WEEKLY WRAP UP
K9 Jack set the tone for Heroes week! Having real life heroes
come to camp reminded everyone that superheroes are more
than Superman and Wonder Woman. Campers came decked out
for Dress up Wednesday in medical uniforms, firefighter gear and
much more! On Thursday, we took off for our field trip and
packed the house at the movie theatre. All camps enjoyed popcorn and fruit snacks while watching The Secret Life of Pets.

We are getting pumped up for challenge week. Campers can
bring in donations for our Penny Wars. Counselors faces will be
on buckets, the counselor with the largest donation will get a pie
in the face! At the end of the week, we will compete on inflatable obstacle courses and see who can stay on the inflatable
Meltdown the Longest! Campers will also be able to show off
during our Y’s Got Talent show!

NSYMCA CAMP UPDATES • WEEK OF JULY 8, 2016
Little Pioneers - Our Navigators friends
like us so much, they came by again to
help us make our superhero capes! We
ended the week making our very own
superheroes!
Voyagers - We celebrated “Heroes”
by sending letters to our Service
Members and dressing up in our
favorite superheroes on Wednesday. We loved Secret Life of Pets!
Pathfinders - Our week was filled
with Superhero activities! We made
puppets, capes and superhero name
tags! We behaved perfectly as Jack
the police dog came to visit us!
Trailblazers - For heroes week, we
dressed up, made superhero comic
books and watched Jack the Police dog!
We finished the week with Secret Life
of Pets!
Gymnastics - Our spring board and
vaults are improving. To strengthen
our conditioning, we played partner
tag. We continue to work on balancing
on the high beam and staying tight on
bars. Ask to see my cartwheel!
Adventurers - It was really hot, so we
spent time indoors playing dodge ball
and an obstacle course made of yarn!
We also wrote Thank You letters to our
local heroes, our fire and police department!
Art - Our Superhero self portrait was
very cool! There were so many projects
from a 3D Superhero to a guitar painting; it was hard to choose our favorite
one!
HS H.A.W.K.S. - With the heat, we have
stayed cool doing some arts and crafts.
We enjoyed having Alistair as one of
our leaders this week, and look forward
to Tom coming back next week!
Sports - We practiced hockey and football all week before battling in an epic
hockey tournament! After 5 weeks, it’s
exciting to see the improvement every
camper has made!
Navigators - This week was one for
the record books! We tended to
our garden, vegetables are coming
in great! We played games with
Sports Camp and our buddies in Little Pioneers!
DIY - This week we used lots of recycled
materials to make our own tic tac toe
games and hanging planters. Other regular
materials were used and transformed into
great projects!
My Digital World– Our excitement and
creativity flowed as we designed our
own video games! Piece by piece, we
created a world that we shared with
the class on Friday!
