PROCEEDS OF THIS EVENING BENEFIT The JCC Camps at Medford, nestled on a beautiful 120-acre site in the NJ Pinelands, offers the ultimate day camp experience to children ages 3-14 years old. Its staff, facilities and activities are unmatched. Campers make new friends, learn and live Jewish values, develop valuable life skills, and enjoy memories that will last a lifetime. Financial Assistance is provided to children who otherwise could not afford a camp experience. In 2011, nearly 300 campers (207 families) received assistance, which totaled $348,591 (an average of $1,428 per child). For 2012, Camp will award more than $350,000 in financial assistance, with the Raymond and Gertrude Saltzman Foundation providing more than $300,000 of this. The Open Hearts / Open Doors program for campers with special needs is recognized nationally for its excellence in program. Through an inclusive environment, campers with special needs have an opportunity to interact with other campers and to be a part of the general Camp community. They develop social skills, build self-image and self-esteem, increase communication skills, and build friendships, all of which are critical for them to achieve and to maintain self sufficiency and independence in their daily lives beyond the camp experience. Through the assistance of the Raymond and Gertrude Saltzman Foundation, the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey, Burlington County United Way, and other generous donors, Camp is able to provide these opportunities at no additional cost to camp families. Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS is the nation's leading industry-based, not-for-profit AIDS fundraising and grant making organization. BC/EFA is the on-going, committed response from the American Theatre community to an urgent worldwide health crisis. By drawing upon the talents, resources, and generosity of this community, BC/EFA raises funds for AIDS-related causes across the United States. Since its founding in 1988, BC/EFA has raised over $140 million for critically needed services for people with AIDS, HIV or HIV-related illnesses.
