Founded in 1958, in 1966
LiuGong launched China’s
first modernised wheel
loader, the legendary Z435.
Shortly after it began trading
on the Shenzhen Stock
Exchange in 1993, LiuGong
started bolstering its global
credentials, partnering with
a number of prominent
international companies.
That’s why we employ a team
of over 1,000 research and
development engineers – so
that we can guarantee the
durability, efficiency and
productivity of each and every
LiuGong machine.

machinery for over 60 years.
Today, the company produces
more than 60 models of highquality piling equipment,

engineering, water well and
multi-shaft drilling rigs, and
much more.
OVM, headquartered in Liuzhou,
produces prestressing products
and provides services for
construction projects. The
company manufactures over
400 products (in 30 series
and 5 categories), and is the
largest professional prestressing
enterprise in Asia Pacific.

Staying ahead of constantly
evolving industry developments
is central to how we work. From
understanding customer needs,
perfecting and implementing
technological breakthroughs,

regulatory legislation, Research
and Development is a vital stage
in our delivery of tough, reliable
construction machinery to you.
We employ an expert team of
about 1,000 engineers – nearly
10% of all our employees – in 40
research divisions spread across
four state-of-the-art research
and development facilities. And
in 2015 alone, LiuGong invested
more than US$40.8 million into
our R&D programme.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
At LiuGong, we pride
ourselves on the happiness of
our end users. We believe that
a deep understanding of our
customers’ needs is the key to

and so our engineers think
about the customer first –
throughout every step of the
R&D process.
This is achieved through
the LiuGong Development
Process (LDP).
The LDP divides each
project into phases – the first
phase is a feasibility study.
LiuGong embrace project
ideas from every source: from
our engineers and factory
workers, right through our vast
dealer network and of course,
listening to the end users
themselves.
Once a project has passed
the feasibility tests, LiuGong
develops the product
definition - the most important
part of development. The
product definition provides
the roadmap so our
engineers know exactly what
our customers want. Our
engineers are sent across
the world to gain first-hand
experience and feedback
from customers, suppliers and
experts on different machines
in different challenging
scenarios.

They also form close

universities to discover

through intensive practical

After the definition is in place,
our world-class R&D facilities
enable us to simulate all parts
of a machine’s design and
behaviour on a computer
before a prototype is built.
We virtually create a full 3D
version of each LiuGong
machine. Using simulated
models we can verify the
specifications, evaluate
performance criteria, predict
system responses, and
estimate lifespan and reliability
of components and the
complete machine.
The expansion of LiuGong’s
R&D facilities is an ongoing
development, which will
result in better products
for end users. Our new
110,000 m² R&D centre has
state of the art specialized
laboratories for testing
engines, structures, cooing
systems, noise, material
analysis, and many other
key systems in construction
machinery. LiuGong’s new
R&D offices are spacious and
laid out to allow maximum
communications between
engineers, and a working
environment that is a pleasure
to come to.
As LiuGong’s R&D continues
to grow, so will the quality of
our machines, our ergonomics
and technical sophistication.
