nurse call communications, has released their interface to connect Real-Time
Locating Systems (RTLS) with their Responder 5 Nurse Call system. This interface
was a joint development effort between Rauland-Borg and a variety of RTLS vendors
creating a one size fits all integration. Hospitals can now choose which technology
works best in their environment (i.e. Wi-Fi, ultrasound, RFID, IR, etc.) and know it
will collaborate with their Responder 5 Nurse Call system.
The RTLS integration to the Responder 5 enables the system to automatically
cancel patient calls when a nurse enters the room, and lights the nurse call corridor
light outside the door. The corridor lights give staff a quick visual down the hall to
see where caregivers are located by which room lights are lit. The systems work
simultaneously to update location information, eliminate repetitive steps and
provide productivity and response reports for the hospital’s records. This makes it
feasible for hospitals to review and record staff duties throughout their facility.
The Responder 5 Nurse Call system provides enhanced communications for
hospitals with its open architecture model that allows integration to a variety of
wireless phones, pagers and location systems. Now with its integration to RTLS
badges, staff location and reporting is automatic - leading to improved workflow
for staff, and overall improved patient care throughout the entire hospital.
