Happy Independence Day! God bless America!!
As we celebrate this 4th of July, let us never forget those who have died for the birth of our country, for the
freedom that we enjoy; and the goods that we have.
This coming up Wednesday, 6 July, is the feast day of St. Thomas More, our patron saint. On 6 July 1535, Sir
Thomas More was beheaded on Tower Hill, London. He refused to approve King Henry VIII’s divorce and
remarriage and established of the Church of England, breaking away with Rome and denying the pope as head of
the Church. In Jubilee 2000, Saint Pope John Paul II name St. Thomas More patron of poli1cal leaders. Through
intercession of St. Thomas More, let us pray for our government leaders and all leaders that they will work
together for peace and jus1ce for all.
Today’s readings, par1cularly the Gospel of Luke this Sunday (Luke 10:1-12; 17-20), remind us of our mission in
this world. Jesus Christ wants us to bring the Truth – the Gospel of life, peace, and jus1ce - to the whole world.
And, the truth is Jesus himself, who is "the way, and the truth, and the life" (John 14:6). Speaking the truth or
spreading the faith is a task not only for bishops, priests, deacons and religious—it is a task for all Catholics. Spread
your Catholic faith in kind words and good deeds.

Este próximo miércoles, 6 de julio, es la fiesta de Santo Tomás Moro, nuestro santo patron. El 6 de julio de 1535, Sir Tomás
Moro fue decapitado en Tower Hill, Londres. Él se negó a aprobar al Rey Enrique VIII el divorcio, volverse a casar y establecer
la Iglesia de Inglaterra, rompiendo con Roma y negando al papa como cabeza de la Iglesia. En el Jubileo de 2000, San Juan
Pablo II lo proclamo a Santo Tomás Moro, patron de los poli1cos y governadores. A través de la intercesión de Santo Tomás
Moro, oremos por nuestros gobernantes y todos los dirigentes que trabajarán juntos por la paz y la jus1cia para todos.
Las lecturas de hoy, especialmente en el evangelio de Lucas este domingo (Lucas 10:1-12; 17-20), nos recuerdan nuestra
misión en este mundo. Jesucristo quiere que llevemos la verdad— el evangelio de la vida, la paz y la jus1cia - para el

Confirmation at St.Thomas More is a two year program. Students currently receiving Catholic high
school religious education fulfill the Confirmation Year 1 requirements according to Archdiocesan

through 11, the student must register for Confirmation Year 1.
Preparation: Confirmation Year 1 can be begun as early as freshman year through junior year of High School. Confirmation Year 2 can be
