Thank You!
It takes a lot of devoted people to keep our
downtown looking its best.
Thank you to the ladies of the Northville
Beautification Commission who have adopted
several flower beds and all the small planters seen
throughout the downtown. Read more on page 14.
Thank you to the
Northville Ambassadors,
our newest team, who will
be out and keeping us litter
free. Read more on
page 4.
Thank you to Jake and
Kyle, our new seasonal
staff, for keeping the
flowers watered and pulling
the endless supply of
weeds.
Come on down and see what’s new!
Town Square is dressed in pink this summer. What a great place to
enjoy a cold drink, a carry out meal, and a good conversation
with friends. Come on down and relax for a while!
Great downtowns do not happen by accident
In 2006 the Northville Downtown Strategic Plan was developed and
represents a vision for the future of Downtown Northville. The first
project of that plan was the new Town Square, completed in the fall
of 2007. Continuing with the Strategic Plan two additional projects
are scheduled to begin in 2010.
The Streetscape Enhancement Project is anticipated to begin mid
July with improvements made to Mary Alexander Court and S.
Center Street. Improvements include new sidewalks, streets, street
trees and amenities. Construction will continue in the spring of 2011
with the same improvements to Main Street and N. Center Street.
The East Main Street Walkway Project is projected to begin in the
fall to create a pedestrian walkway from the Marquis Theatre
parking lot to E. Main Street. The former Girly Daze space at 125 E.
Main will be transformed into a two-story open walkway. The
project is currently in the final design stages.
We’ll keep you informed on the progress of both projects with
information being posted on the DDA website.

2nd Annual Talent for the Title
June 4 - Final Showcase
Chamber Golf Outing
June 8
The annual Northville Chamber
Golf Classic offers a day of
networking and golf at one of the
Chamber member golf courses.
Each year the Northville
Chamber hosts its annual Golf
Classic which serves as one of
the Chamber's main fundraising
events of the season. As a 501c
(6) non-profit organization, the
Chamber operates from funding
elicited through membership
dues, event sponsorship and fund raising events.
Proceeds from our annual Golf Classic allow us to
continue our mission of promoting and supporting the
business community of Northville.
Western Golf & Country Club, established in 1926, is a
private club conveniently located in Redford, just a
short 15 minutes from downtown Northville.
The golf course is challenging and demanding, yet
very playable. Donald Ross, perhaps the greatest and
most prolific course designer of all time, designed
Western in a beautiful parkland setting. Tree-lined,
with the Rouge River running through, we have a truly
established hidden gem.
Come enjoy all the amenities that Western has to offer
with your fellow Northville Chamber Members and
Friends. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to
play one of the area’s finest private golf courses.
We hope that you are able to enjoy a day of golf and
networking while also assisting in the continued
support for your Chamber and the Northville
Community.
A host of prominent judges will be on hand to crown
the winners. The most exciting element to the evening
will be the opportunity (25% of the vote) for audience
members to participate in selecting the junior and
senior Talent for the Title! Voting ballots will be available at the check-in table.

Tunes on Tuesday
June 22, 29
Each Sunday afternoon, from mid-June to midOctober, the buildings are open for public viewing.
Costumed docents are on hand to inform visitors
about the buildings, their contents, and about
Northville’s past. Many weekends, a working
blacksmith demonstrates the craft, weavers and rug
hookers ply their trades, and an occasional strolling
musician may be found. Special events are planned
for July 3rd and the Victorian Festival.
Bring the kids to Town Square on Tuesday mornings
for some fun in the sun!
Tunes on Tuesdays offers free, family-friendly
entertainment each Tuesday from mid-June through
August. Favorites such as Zippity 2 Dad and Maureen
Schiffman & Coco take the stage each week to keep
you and your little ones dancing and singing along.
Sponsored by the Northville Downtown Development
Authority, Toll Brothers and Northville Parks and
Recreation.
To the uninitiated, the historic Village is a
nineteenth-century jewel in Northville’s crown. Seven
buildings, ranging from approximately 1831 to the
1890’s, have carefully been moved from various parts
of Northville to the scenic park land on Griswold
Street; two more have been meticulously
re-constructed with the aid of period photographs and
plans.
A visit to the Village is a delightful way to explore the
past, take a pleasant stroll, and step back in time. Mill
Race Village is open to all, and there is no admission
charge. It’s located on Griswold, just east of
Downtown Northville, between Main Street and Eight
Mile Road. The grounds are open daily from sunrise
to sunset; the buildings are open on Sunday
afternoons from 1:00 - 4:00 pm.

RONNIE MARMO, DAYTIME TV, FILM AND STAGE
STAR TO APPEAR IN NORTHVILLE
The Ronnie Marmo Fan Weekend is scheduled for

Marmo is also the co-founder and artistic director for
Theatre 68 (ask him how the name came about when
you see him) in Los Angeles. Not one to rest on his
laurels, he is one of the hardest working actors today
and was recently recognized in March with the Robert
Pastorelli Rising Star Award.

Gran Malbec 2006
Varietals Malbec 100%
Alcohol: 14.4%
Aging: 12 months in French barrels
Unique Production: 26,600 bottles
Cellaring: 8 years
Tasting Notes: This wine shows an intense and deep
ruby color with violet hues. Intense fruit notes on the
nose, reminiscent of plum, red fruit, compote and jam,
balanced with the contribution of the oak ageing. It is
of great elegancy and personality on the palate, where
the attributes of this Gran Malbec Argentino are
expressed in a complex manner. Good marriage with
Mediterranean bruschetta, pasta, semi-hard cheese
and grilled meat.
Our thanks and appreciation goes to the following
groups who are currently participating in the program.

•
Cabernet Sauvignon 2007
Varietals Cabernet Sauvignon 100%
Alcohol: 13.5%
Tasting Notes: Vineyards at the foot of the Andes and
their characteristic microclimates deliver wines like our
Cabernet, which shows a brilliant red color. On the
nose, there are aromas of black pepper, truffles,
"calahorra" pepper, leather, and subtle notes of
cedar. It displays round in the mouth with ripe tannins,
and a gracefully, balanced and long finish. Good
marriage with all kinds of red meat, game dishes, and
hard cheeses.
•
•
•
Torrontes 2007
Varietals Torrontes 100%
Alcohol: 13.8%
Winemaking : Classic, Cold Pre-fermentation
maceration
Tasting Notes: Expressive, fresh, and elegant
Torrontes, where floral scents, fruit flavors and a citrus
touch are combined to harmoniously reach the perfect
balance. Good marriage with seafood, sushi, Asian
dishes (Thai and Tandoori food), hot pasties and also
as an aperitif.
