THE FOURSOME BY NORM FOSTER
September 17 – October 25, 2015
18 Holes of Laughter
From the playwright of The Love List and Looking comes a
comedy about four old school friends, home for a reunion,
playing a round of golf. At each tee they catch up on what has
happened in their lives since the old college days. A family man,
a con artist, a millionaire, and a TV ad salesman, the friends – at
least they were back then - discover that their lives have taken
them in very different directions. With their relationship steeped
in competitiveness, needling, and mutual concern, you don’t
need to be an expert in golf to see that their friendship needs
more work than their swing.

SUGGESTED MENU

SQUASH KNOWLEDGE
Apple Stuffed Acorn Squash
• 1 lb. peeled squash = 1 cup cooked, and 1 lb. squash = 2 to 3 servings
Sauteed Brussels Sprouts
• Squash is grouped into summer squash or winter squash, depending on whether they are harvested as immature fruit (summer squash) or mature fruit (winter squash).
Pumpkin Crème Brulée
•
EDWARD’S EXTRA!
Any type of mashed
squash can be used in
the place of canned
pumpkin in soups, pies,
cookies or breads.
All squash seeds are edible and delicious to eat. Prepare them as you would your pumpkin seeds. Try additional seasonings on your squash or pumpkin seeds. Cajun seasoning, soy sauce and garlic salt are some of the many possibilities.
• The yellowest spaghetti squash will be the ripest. Spaghetti squash that are more white are not very ripe. Larger spaghetti squash are more flavorful than smaller ones.
Because the rind makes
most squash difficult to
peel, it’s easier to cook
the unpeeled squash,
and then scoop out the
cooked flesh.
• One 4oz. serving of squash provides 20% or more of your recommended daily value of magnesium, potassium, and vitamins A, C and E (vitamin E is found in the seeds).
EDWARD’S EXTRA!
Toasting walnuts is easy! Take your walnuts and place them on a baking sheet.
Place the walnuts in the oven and bake them at 350° for 5 to 10 minutes. Make
sure you keep an eye on them until they are done so that they don’t burn. This
procedure works well with pine nuts, almonds and almost any nut out there!

Browndog has had a great first summer! With the addition of a
pastry cabinet which put the Dessert Bar in full swing, they are
looking forward to the fall.
As fall approaches, the creative team is full of ideas highlighting
Michigan made products and ingredients. Browndog will
be incorporating seasonal ingredients such as: cinnamon,
doughnuts, apples, pumpkin, etc. What a great time of the year
to enjoy your jeans, sweatshirt, and a new set of flavor profiles.
In typical Browndog Creamery style the Browndog team will
continue to be creative and innovative with their approach to
everything they do. Looking forward, they are conceptualizing
ice creams with fig & ginger, fresh fruit pies with house made
bourbon caramel & apples, and cupcakes with apple & bacon.
They will also include adult flavor profiles, which will include
fall beers, cognac, and port, just to name a few.
It will soon be skeleton season in Northville and Browndog is
looking forward to having its own unique skeleton to show off
in front of the shop in the fall.
Catering and special orders have become a popular request
for Browndog Creamery and Dessert Bar. The summer has kept
them busy as they catered several off site events, including
charities, weddings, and corporate parties. The catering
requests continue to roll in as fall brings football/tailgates,
Halloween, and a start to the holidays.
Browndog is very excited to have stepped into the wedding
market with their catering and wedding cake production. Have
an idea for something different? Want a unique offering at your
wedding? Look to Browndog to add that innovative twist to
your wedding shower and wedding.
All in all they are looking forward to their first fall in Northville
and will continue to bring exciting things for everyone to enjoy.

The UPS Store recently received a call from a lady who was
frantic. She explained she was the executor of an estate, and
part of her duties were to distribute a 32 piece set of bone china
to an heir in California, and a very large (55x4x36) wood framed
piece of art to an heir in Florida. She told the UPS clerk that the
US Post office told her it needed to be packed before it could be
shipped, and she did not have the materials or the expertise to
do that. She next went to a big box office store that rhymes with
“Maples” and they told her they have packing service. When the
store that rhymes with “Maples” saw the size and complexity of
the packing job, they admitted it was beyond their scope and
recommended they call the UPS Store. She was much relieved
when they quickly gave her an estimate. When she brought her
items to the store they explained how they were going to pack
her items, showing her the materials they would use, and how
they would provide safety in transit she was expecting. She was
much relieved she found the UPS Store and sent them a “thank
you” note after the items arrived safely at their destinations.
A regular shipping customer asked if UPS provided printing
services. The UPS clerk told her they did, and they asked to
describe the project she was inquiring about. She told them
she went to the store whose name used to rhyme with “Stinkos”
and had an 80 page 30 sets of a presentation printed on 3 hole
paper. The store printed the job with the holes on the right side
of the page; she needed the holes on the left side. The store
whose name used to rhyme with “Stinkos” told her the re-do
would not be completed for 2 days. She needed it in 1 day for
a seminar she was holding. The UPS Store completed the job
2 hours earlier than our estimated time, and the customer was
pleased, not only with their prompt service, but the fact that we
got the holes on the left side, and they were 15% cheaper than
the store whose name rhymed with “Stinkos”.
