(Sorry, that doesn’t rhyme), but it happens
in the blink of an eye!
Christmas is still fresh in my
mind and now it is the end of
2012, and a very busy year for
our Glendale Altrusa Club.

up in April. Julie has offered to
store all items at her home.

Since our last communication,
we engaged in several service
projects: our very satisfying
monthly lunches with the BLIND
(at the Foothill Service Club)
and our LUNCH AND BINGO afternoon with our friends of the GLENDALE
ASSOCIATION FOR THE RETARDED.
For our MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY PROJECT, we delivered children’s books to the
GLENDALE YWCA for their temporary mother and children shelter. For this project we
celebrated the INTERNATIONAL ALTRUSA
BIRTHDAY, and received their $50.00
grant, to purchase more books to donate.
We also showed our support of ALTRUSA
INTERNATIONAL by renewing our membership in CLUB 21.
As it is our annual custom, in lieu of sending Christmas Cards to each other, we donated the proceeds to the ALTRUSA INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION.
We received a Christmas Greeting and a thank you letter from the
International Foundation .
And we ate and ate and ate. We
were privileged to have our Governor, Sandi Miller, Governor elect,
Denice Gilb, and Past Governor, Ann
Bauman join us for dinner at Shaker’s. We ate, and talked
about Altrusa, of course. A
nice visit.
Our monthly luncheon was
combined with an opportunity to purchase jewelry
from the COOKIE LEE COLLECTION. Our friend, Christina, graciously gives our
Glendale Club a generous
portion of her profit. Its an
opportunity to buy for ourselves and they make great Christmas gifts.
We were invited to join the Arcadia
Club for their Christmas luncheon at
the San Gabriel Country Club. It was
a special opportunity to get better
acquainted with our Altrusa sisters.
We are going to assist them as hosts
for the 2013 ALTRUSA CONFERENCE, which will be held in North
Hollywood this year -- so we met at
the hotel to eat and discuss plans.
Another chance to eat was a luncheon with a prospective member.

PAST PRESIDENT BARBARA WINSOR CRAWFORD HONORED
Every month we bring food items to help supply the food bank at the BURBANK TEMPORARY AID SHELTER and of course we always
have something to eat at our business meetings, our board meetings and our committee
meetings.
We honored our Past President, BARBARA WINSOR
CRAWFORD, with our Glendale Arbor Day contribution,
and her Pink Trumpet tree
was planted at Pelanconi
Park recently.

Our next food event will be a dinner AT 5:00
pm on WEDNESDAY JANUARY 16, 2013 at
Clancy’s restaurant in Glendale. We have
invited our sister clubs, ARCADIA AND LOS
ANGELES to join us to hear our speaker Lee
Wochner, take better advantage of the “social
media” to promote Altrusa in this 21st century
technology.

Yes, BINGO BINGO BINGO, this is the sound we all love to hear, as
we play Bingo with our friends after lunch. This group, called “Pastimes” are those who have retired from their jobs at the Glendale
Association for the Retarded. They come from their group homes
to the Alma House, and we eat box lunches in the lovely garden
patio. We enjoy chatting with them as we eat, then it’s time to
play Bingo. We play until everyone is a winner!
