Welcome to
All Hallows RC
Dear Parents and Carers
I am delighted to welcome you to All
Hallows RC Business, Enterprise and
Sports College. We all know that moving
on to high school is a key turning point
in every child’s education and it is
important that you and your child have
every opportunity to make an informed
decision about your choice of school. I
hope that this prospectus will give you
and your child a picture of the qualities
of All Hallows RC that make it so special
and distinctive. I am confident that All
Hallows RC will prove to be an excellent
choice of school for your child.
This is a Catholic school, not only in
name but also in character and ethos,
and we believe that you will sense this in
all of your contacts with people here. It
is a caring school. Our small size and our
excellent pastoral system of care allow
us to get to know and support our pupils
very well, and to ensure that any
problems do not go unnoticed or
unattended. We maintain strong
connections with pupils from our feeder
primary schools, ensuring excellent
transition links through the work of our
Transitions Mentor, Mrs Dickerson, and
the year 7 Pupil Progress Leader, to care
for all new pupils even before they have
formally joined us. This system of care
continues throughout your child’s time
at All Hallows via the form system, peer
mentors and the caring classroom
and this success encompasses our least
able pupils as much as our most able.
External examination results continue to
go from strength to strength, with 100% 5
A* - C and 48% 5 A* - C including English
and Mathematics. We are a high
performing specialist school, specialising
in Business, Enterprise and Sports. We
have gained many external recognitions
and awards for our high quality
including, ‘Success in Adding Value’
(SSAT), ‘Most Improved School’ (SSAT),
‘Quality in Study Support’ at ‘Established’
level, ‘Enhanced Healthy Schools Status’,
environment.
‘Get Set Network Status’ and the ‘Leading
Parent Partnership Award’. In September
this year we became the first High School
in Salford to achieve Dyslexia Friendly
Status, an award that we are extremely
proud of.
We are an inclusive comprehensive
school offering a Catholic education for
all pupils of Catholic faith, other faiths
and no faith. We also accept pupils of all
abilities and needs. Our mission is to
offer the best possible Catholic education
for all our pupils, in an environment
where gospel values are central to
teaching and learning, and in which the
unique value of each person is
recognised and respected. Our visitors
frequently comment on the spontaneous
friendliness and politeness of our pupils
and their smart appearance, on the good
relationships evident between adults and
children, and on the orderly, learningorientated atmosphere in school.

Learning is, of course, at the heart of
what we do. At All Hallows RC Business,
Enterprise and Sports College we provide
an innovative curriculum that offers
excellent academic, vocational and extracurricular opportunities for all our
pupils. Our aim is to offer tailor-made,
bespoke opportunities that maximise the
potential of all to personalise the
learning experience in our school.
Indeed, it is fundamental to our
enterprising culture that we develop the
transferable skills for all our pupils to
make cross-curricular learning links that
prepare each pupil for adult life.
We are also proud of our ever expanding
opportunities for enrichment and extracurricular activities. In addition to the
usual range of activities, interesting
events this year have included a ski trip
to Italy, theatre trips to London and
Stratford, our pupils have been involved
in sailing a ship around the British Isles,
and many have undertaken the Duke of
Edinburgh Award scheme. Visits to
school have included the support of
many local employers to facilitate group
work during Enterprise Days whilst
theatre groups have performed for our
pupils. We were honoured to welcome Sir
Steve Redgrave who met our year 9 and
10 pupils when he came to All Hallows to
launch the ‘Matalan Sporting Promise’
programme. Our students excel in the
annual school production where
exceptionally talented young people sing
and perform dance routines, supported
by students working backstage, front of
house or providing hospitality.
We see learning as a partnership between
home and school. As such, you will
always be welcome in school should you
wish to discuss issues regarding the
progress or welfare of your child.
We continue to foster strong links with
our associate primary schools and have
further enhanced our collaboration
through staff teaching visits to these
schools and Year 5 and 6 visits to us.

a commitment to gospel values through
the teachings of the Catholic church.

provide important partnership but also
offer an invaluable link to the world of
business and many learning
opportunities for our pupils. Our partners
extend far and wide. We continue to offer
long-standing support to the Imibala
project in South Africa and our sporting
partnership with SMJK Shing Chung
School in Malaysia continues, which will
see both schools exchange expertise and
cultural experiences long into the future.

A Catholic
Community
Our Catholic mission is central to our ethos.
This manifests itself in the special, caring
atmosphere evident to all who enter our
school community and provides the
backdrop to learning.
At All Hallows we wish to be a Catholic community to which
children wish to come to learn, to which parents wish to send
their children, and where teachers wish to teach.
Our Mission is to offer a high quality Catholic Education for all, in
an environment where Gospel Values are central to teaching and
learning, and in which the unique value of each person is
recognised and respected.
During their time at All Hallows pupils will be expected to
contribute to the religious life of the school.
In addition to religious education there is a full programme of
activities which contribute to our young people’s spiritual and
moral development.

We have a whole-school approach to prayer, worship and liturgy
and expect all members of the school community to play an
active role in developing Christian growth. Our liturgical life is
evidenced in our Voluntary Mass which takes place each week in
the school chapel; daily form prayer , regular year group
assemblies; visiting speakers, groups and workshop activities
which encourage spiritual reflection and deepening of faith; and
reconciliation services before major feasts.
In addition, we celebrate a year 7 ‘Welcome Mass’ as a key part in
the recognition of and pastoral welcome afforded to the newest
members of our community.
Pupils are encouraged to develop a sense of commitment to the
needs of others by involving themselves in fund raising activities
for charities such as CAFOD, The Salford Lourdes Children and
Families Groups, The Rainbow Family Trust and IMIBALA which
helps provide education for children in South Africa. Pupils at All
Hallows are encouraged to volunteer across the local community
and our Young Volunteers are regular visitors at local nursing and
residential homes, community groups and events.
The
School day
School starts at 08:30 with form time where
registration is taken. Classes begin at
08:45, we run a 50 minutes lesson
timetable and there are a possible 6 lessons
in each school day.
There is one break mid morning from 10:25 to 10:40 and again
for lunch. Our canteen is open before school for breakfast, at
break time for a mid morning snack/drink and at lunch time
where pupils are encouraged to eat a healthy lunch.
Meals at the canteen are available on a self service basis, pupils
are able to select from a variety of hot and cold meals to suit all
tastes. Pupils may bring their own packed lunch to school which
must be eaten in the school dining rooms.
Homework
Homework forms an important part of the academic life of every
pupil, and school relies on the support of parents/carers in seeing
that it is completed.
The amount of homework given and how often it is set will
depend on the age and ability of the pupil and the nature of the
work being undertaken. Each year group is provided with a
homework timetable and every pupil is given a journal to record
the details and submission dates of all homework set. Parents are
asked to review and sign these journals weekly to confirm they are
aware of and have seen their children’s homework. For those
pupils who have access to the internet at home it may be possible
to complete homework online via our Learning Platform. Sanctions
will be applied if homework is not completed.
Medical Welfare
Lunchtime is from 12:20 to 1:10 each day and all pupils stay on
site across lunch unless express permission has been given by the
Headteacher.
Nurses from the School Health Service visit the school regularly
and carry out an annual health check on pupils in a target year.
All pupils can expect at least one health check during their time in
this school.
The school takes its duty of care for our pupils seriously and
considers the health, welfare and safety of the children to be
paramount.
Parents will be notified in advance of health checks and will be
invited to attend if they so wish.
School finishes at 3.00pm each day.
If any parent/carer knows that their child suffers from a disability
which is likely to affect schooling please arrange to call into
school to discuss the matter in confidence.
Staff trained in first aid are on hand in the event of an emergency.
School policies on Health & Safety, Pupil Medication and First Aid
are available on request.

Business
Enterprise
We are a business and enterprise specialist
college. This status has enabled us to
provide an extensive range of both
curricular and extracurricular activities for
pupils across all year groups. Pupils gain
an experience of the world of work
culminating in Year 10 work experience,
visits to a diverse range of workplaces, the
partaking in business competitions and
pupil involvement in a variety of social
enterprise projects to support those in
need. We are grateful for the collaboration
of the partners who make this possible.
The ‘can-do’ approach we encourage in our
pupils, together with the development of
enterprise skills is central to all the
learning enjoyed by All Hallows’ pupils.
Our pupils regularly partake in Enterprise
Days where whole year groups are brought
together in a non-classroom environment
in order to collaborate with guests from
industry in a variety of themed learning
experiences. These specific days help to
provide a ‘real-world’ context to the
teaching and learning of enterprise.

Sport
As a specialist Sports
College we ensure that all
pupils have access to a wide
and diverse range of core
and extracurricular sporting
activities.
Sport plays an integral part of student life
at All Hallows and these last few years
have marked an exciting time in the
sporting life of our school with All Hallows
pupils having celebrated success in Street
Dance Competition, in Rugby, in Football,
in athletics and in Cricket.
A Hub site for School Sports Partnerships in
Salford, All Hallows is already involved
with sporting activity in over 50 schools
and will be leading the School Games
initiative in Salford over the coming years
Through core lessons at KS4 and BTEC
courses pupils have the opportunity to
develop skills through outdoor and
adventurous activities such as kayaking,
rock climbing, raft building, hiking, gorge
walking and camping. All Hallows pupils
have had the opportunity to undertake
Skiing Lessons and many have attended
Ski Trip where pupils can practice their
skills and experience an exhilarating sport
in spectacular surroundings.
Many of our pupils are becoming involved
in Leadership programmes in Physical
Education and Sport, undertaking training
courses and hosting primary school
competitions here at All Hallows. The
success of these Sporting Ambassadors
was recognised nationally when we were
asked to present a conference for sport
teachers and professionals.
