Week 6 FRIDAY ENVIRO TIME 11.30-12.30 PLEASE BRING PLASTIC BOTTLES AND BOTTLE TOPS TO THE OFFICE IF POSSIBLE, THANK YOU THIS WEEK THE BIRDS & PREDATORS ENVIRO GROUP WILL VISIT THE WETLANDS WITH DEBS. SICKNESS ALERT!! There is so much illness around school this week we would like you all to look after yourselves, and parents; please help by teaching your children how to blow their noses, keep coughs to themselves and practice good hygiene habits like hand washing. Thank you all for helping us in the battle against these nasty bugs. What’s happening next week, Week 7 INDIGO ROOM visit Motueka Library – Monday 5 September Teachers Paid Union Meeting – Wednesday 7 September. Our school remains open as usual. Year 6 MOTEC Expo – Thursday 8 September. Separate notices have gone out about this. Parent transport is required for our 14 year 6 students. Book Club Issue 6 Orders will be placed Friday 9 September What else is happening this term? Room 4 will visit the Motueka Library again on Mon 12 Sept Talent Quest: 14 September BOT Meeting: 14 September QUIZ NIGHT WITH GLENN: Friday 16 September DANCE PERFORMANCE AT SCHOOL: TUES 20 September All students will perform a show for parents on the afternoon of Tuesday 20 September to showcase their dance learning with Dean this term. STUDENT LED CONFERENCES: Wednesday 21 September Mark this date in your diaries – your appointment times will appear in next week’s newsletter REMINDERS… BUS NOTICES, absences and messages. SEND A TEXT TO 027 526 8842. School Donations: For 2016 for 1 child at school = $25, for 2 children = $40, with a maximum family donation of $50 for 3 or more children. We raised $53 last week for the Cancer Society – thank you all for your donations Thanks to the Moynan family for the grand tour of their farm for our Room 4 students this morning! What a great day for it! Thanks again for parent transport too! Dear Everyone, Student Led Conferences are scheduled for the Wednesday of week nine and Staff are currently scheduling conferences. I think this is a wonderful opportunity for you to sit formally with your child, hearing and seeing the work they are doing at school, and the progress they are making. Appointment times will be advised in the next few days and I urge you to set aside the time to attend your child's conference. You will have the opportunity to follow up on these sessions early in term 4 but we are always prepared to meet with you if you have any concerns. Have a great week, Tony ROCK da HOUSE Choir Festival 2016 TOMORROW!! THURSDAY 1 SEPTEMBER. Performers, you should all know what you need to wear, where to report to and what you are doing following today’s dress rehearsal. Parents don’t forget your tickets on the night! Thanks to all parents who have helped out in preparation for tomorrow’s big show; also particular thanks to Lauren and Kathy for all their hard work with rehearsals, practices and organisation. And to the Indigo Room and Room 5 performers well done, you’re amazing! Looking forward to a great show! ENVIRO TIME; every Friday between 11.30am and 12.30pm. There are still a few permission slips still to be returned for trips to the wetlands in enviro time. Please check with Amanda or your class teacher if you are unsure. If you have not yet returned this your child will have to stay behind if their group is scheduled to go to the wetlands. Parents are welcome to come along and lend a hand if you have a free hour before lunch on a Friday! Miniball: Unfortunately our Intermediate team had to default this week due to sickness. The Intermediate Breakers play on Monday 5 Sept at 5.30pm. This Friday’s Senior game has been cancelled by our opponents so our Attackers win by default and there is no game this Friday. Better luck next week! Volleyball We play Rudolf SS Seniors at 5pm tonight. The cost is $20 per player, payable to school now please. QUIZ NIGHT – FRIDAY 16 SEPTEMBER NGATIMOTI RESERVE COMMUNITY ROOMS $10 per person – Teams of 4-6 preferable Glenn is running this quiz to raise funds for school musical instruments – and to have a bit of fun of course! Register your team at the school office anytime. 7pm for a 7.30pm start on Friday 16 September. BYO Supper and drinks. Dean shows Room 5 how to look cool and do the dance moves! Come along to our whole school dance performance on the afternoon of Tuesday 20 September! NGATIMOTI NETBALL Well done to Naomi and Amy who were last week’s players of the day. Saturday 3rd September Ngatimoti Diamonds; We finish off the season with a friendly game this week at 10am. Please meet at the courts at 9.30. We also need to take team photos on Saturday, could everyone bring in a change of clothes as I will collect in the uniforms afterwards. Prize Giving; we will have our end of year prize giving at school on Saturday September 10 for all players in year 3 and up. More info next week. Thanks to all parents helping out, we should be able to roster you on for a couple of hours somewhere – call Amanda if you have any questions! WHITE ELEPHANT: You may start to bring in your donations now to the office, thank you PLANT STALL: 6-CELL SEEDLING TRAYS wanted please! ANIMALS WANTED: If you have any animals you think may be suitable to borrow for our Animal Tent on the day please TEXT HOBBIT 0212996488 – also wanted small animal cages/portable fences etc. Thank you! NGATIMOTI SCHOOL PARENTS GROUP - CAKE ROSTER We offer cakes for sale for $1 each as a Friday treat to students. Parents donate the cakes and their time for this and the children really look forward to their Friday cakes! So as a parent is it clear to you what you need to do on your cake duty day? Please arrive in time for lunch with approximately 24 muffins, slices or cake. Please try to be here to serve your delicious cakes, however if this is impossible your child should help to serve. If you think your child is too young please let us know and we will arrange a senior student to help. Please arrive by 12.30pm, set up the big table in the hall. As students line up (little ones first), serve. Wipe the table and clean up. This terms roster is as follows; If you are unable to do your duty please swap with another parent or call Catherine on 526 8891.
