Juried Exhibition:
Honoring Outstanding Work
Beginning in 1967, this premier exhibition features the best of
Hawai‘i’s emerging and established craftsmen. Traditional and
contemporary craft is selected by a juror of national reputation
brought to Hawai‘i to jury on O‘ahu, Maui, Kaua‘i, and in Hilo
and Kona. The juror meets with artists and presents a free
public slide lecture in each location speaking about trends in
the contemporary craft world. The
exhibition honors three Hawai’i
artists for their achievements as

Gathering of the Crafts
A Lifetime of Learning
Master craftsmen of international
stature are brought to Hawai‘i to
give a series of intensive three-day
workshops, lectures and dialogs in
clay, metal, wood, fiber, glass, or mixed
media. Begun in 1973, workshops are
open to all skill levels with scholarships
and student internships available. A
Hawai‘i Craftsmen membership dinner
and a free public slide lecture highlight
this annual event.
