Starting at 6pm, Deacon Rafael will present a video in the church and lead a discussion to help us better understand the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This is a great opportunity to prepare to receive the Sacrament. The Reconciliation Service will start at 7pm where there will be a number of visiting priests available to hear your Confession and help you to prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus. HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR DECEMBER “That the birth of the Redeemer may bring peace and hope to all people of good will”. His intention for evangelization is: “That parents may be true evangelizers, passing on to their children the precious gift of faith”. PASTORAL COUNCIL POSITIONS AVAILABLE Two positions opening up on the Pastoral Council for 3 year terms beginning in January 2016. The Pastoral Council assists Fr. Chris in decisions impacting our parish. Members represent all parishioners and serve as their voice in council discussions. Members are registered parishioners, at least 18 years old, and practicing Catholics in good standing with the Church. If you are interested in discerning to become a member of the Pastoral Council, or to nominate someone else, please fill out a Nominee Form available in the Narthex or at the parish office. Completed forms may be deposited in the “Pastoral Council Nominations“ drop box in the Narthex, or turned in at the Parish Office. DEADLINE to submit nominations is Friday, December 18, 2015. If you have questions, please send a note and your phone number to [email protected] and a council member will call. All parishioners are welcome to attend Discernment Day on Saturday, January 16, 2016 from 9:00am to about 11:00am. PARK SAFELY When our parking lots are crowded, it can be tempting to park in places that are not marked as parking spots. This creates safety risks where an accident can occur or someone could get hurt (especially children). To help keep others safe, please always park in a marked spot. When all spots are taken, orderly parking on the grass around the back lots is an alternative. Please DO NOT park on either side of the driveway from the St. Vincent dePaul building to the exit at FM 1774. When cars park on both sides of this drive, it allows for only 1 lane of traffic. In addition, someone could to step out between parked cars into oncoming traffic. Cars parked near the FM1774 exit block the exit lanes and exiting drivers cannot see oncoming traffic clearly. Also, please do not enter off of FM1774 using the exit drive. Thanks for your understanding and help in keeping everyone safe in our lots. WORD OF LIFE “Regardless of our circumstances and whether people acknowledge it, nothing and no one can take away our God-given dignity.” —USCCB 2015-16 Respect Life Program “Maggie’s Story: Living like Dad”www.goo.gl/JKnvWc ALTAR SERVERS The last date for Altar Server training is December 19, 10am. The training session is primarily optional, BUT… all servers are required to attend at least one session. If you have already attended a session, servers are welcome to attend extra sessions if they feel they could benefit from some extra practice. For more information contact Pat Hedderman, 281-259-2214. To Father Chris and our St. Matthias Parish family, Thank you so much for all your prayers and support during this difficult time of the passing of our mother, Irene Alaniz. We were truly touched by the outpouring of love and kindness. We are truly blessed to be a part of this parish community. MEETINGS, ETC.
