Sept. 3 Dierks Bentley Concert - Finger Lakes Community College
Sept. 3 Dierks Bentley Concert
Parking Changes for Students
The Dierks Bentley concert on Thursday, Sept. 3, at the Constellation Brands Marvin Sands
Performing Arts Center (CMAC) will result in parking lot closures and traffic delays for Finger
Lakes Community College students, employees and visitors.
The College will reduce the inconvenience by providing shuttles, but all students should leave
extra time for parking and shuttle rides. (Shuttles are provided by the Fitzgerald Brothers;
the RTS buses are running their regular routes.)
The main parking lot A will close for the day. Students and visitors will park in the CMAC lot,
also called the G-lot, accessible from Route 364 (East Lake Road) or County Road 18 and take a
shuttle to the Student Center.
The G-lot will close at 2:15 p.m.; cars already parked by that time can stay there.
After 2:15 p.m., anyone heading to the main campus will park at the Ontario County
Fairgrounds on County Road 10 and take a shuttle to the main campus.
Q: Are classes canceled or shortened because of this?
A: No. On Thursday, Sept. 3, FLCC will be open for business. Classes and college services will run on
the normal schedule. Regular service hours are as follows:







One Stop Center: 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The Book Nook (bookstore): 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Library: 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Café: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Computer Helpdesk: 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Fitness Center: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
For all other offices, see the website: http://www.flcc.edu/hours/
Q: Why is there a concert when the college is in session?
A: CMAC and FLCC operate separately, though the college and the concert arena share parking. Concerts and
fall semester college operations generally do not overlap as the concert season typically is over by Labor Day.
This year, classes have to start before Labor Day to ensure the required number of days in the semester.
Q: Where do I park?

If you are arriving before 2:15 p.m., park in the northwest corner of the G-lot and pick up the shuttle at
the bus shelter shown below. G-lot is at the corner of Route 364 (East Lake Road) and County Road 18.
(Continued on next page)

If you are arriving after 2:15 p.m., park at the Ontario County Fairgrounds and pick up the shuttle at the
marked bus stop shown below. For directions to the fairgrounds use this address in GPS or Google maps:
2820 County Road 10, Canandaigua, NY 14424.

If you are being dropped off or picked up at the main campus, you may still enter at Lakeshore Drive
and use the drop-off loop. If you will be picked up after 4 p.m., expect some delays due to concert
traffic. As an alternative, you can make arrangements to meet your ride at the Honors House, across from
the main entrance.

If you live in The Suites at Laker Landing, please have your Suites parking tag on your car when
entering or exiting at Marvin Sands Drive. Expect delays if you leave or arrive during peak concert
parking between 4 and 7 p.m.
Anyone with a handicap parking tag or license plate: The permit-only B-lot
(closest to the front of the building) will be open to anyone with a valid handicap permit until 2:15 p.m. For
anyone arriving after 2:15 p.m., handicap parking is available in the D-lot behind the college.
Q: Do I have to take the shuttle?
A: Yes. Marvin Sands Drive between G-lot and the main building will close to pedestrians and traffic for safety;
concert preparation involves truck traffic and machinery loading and unloading.
Q: How much time will the shuttles take?
A: The trip from the G-lot to the Student Center should take 12 to 15 minutes until about 4 p.m.
The ride may be
longer after 4 p.m. due to concert traffic. A trip from the fairgrounds to the Student Center will take about 15
minutes. Don’t forget to add time to wait for the shuttle and time to walk to your class after exiting the shuttle.
Q: How often will shuttles pick up in the G-lot?
A: Five shuttles will run from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Sept. 3 with pickups in the G-lot every 3 minutes. Two
shuttles will run through the afternoon with pickups every 5 minutes. Click here for the schedule.. If you normally
park in the A-lot, you will need an estimated 15 to 20 extra minutes to wait for and ride a shuttle to get to class on
Sept. 3.
Q: How often will shuttles pick up at the Ontario County Fairgrounds?
A: Two shuttles will run from 2:15 p.m. to 10:55 p.m. with pickups in the fairgrounds every 10 minutes. Click
here for a schedule. The trip will take about 15 minutes, meaning total time to wait for a shuttle and ride it will be
up to 25 minutes each way.
Q: Where do I pick up the shuttle when I am done for the day?
A: The shuttle stop to return to parking areas will be at the corner of Laker Lane and Fraley Lane, near the
northeast entrance to the Student Center and next to the barn and the woodsmen practice field shown below. The
shuttles will not be using the main entrance drop off loop to avoid concert traffic.
Q: What if I park in G-lot but do not plan to leave until late afternoon
or evening?
A: Shuttles will run continuously from G-lot to the Student Center from 7 a.m. to 10:50 p.m. so students will be
able to get to their cars. Shuttles will be given priority by Campus Safety and local law enforcement, but there
may still be delays during peak concert parking, approximately 4 to 7 p.m.
Q: Will the same shuttle go to both the G-lot and the fairgrounds?
A: No, for faster service, shuttle service will be separate for each of the parking areas.
Q: If I leave in the late afternoon or evening, how will I know if the
shuttle is going to the G-lot or the fairgrounds?
A: The shuttles will have signs posted in the windows saying “G-lot” or “fairgrounds.”
Q: How late will the return shuttles run?
A: The shuttles to the G-lot will stop at 10:50 p.m. The shuttles to the fairgrounds will stop at 10:55 p.m.
Q: Will I need my student I.D.?
A: It is not required, but having a student ID could be helpful in an unforeseen circumstance. IDs are available in
the bookstore on the first floor of the Student Center. You will need your FLCC class schedule and a photo ID
(such as a driver’s license or non-driver ID) when you have your FLCC ID made.
Q: I have a tight schedule under normal circumstances. What if I can’t
leave extra time for getting to campus?
A: Please contact your professor in advance.
Contact information is available via WebAdvisor or click here for a
directory and scroll down to your professor’s name.
Q: I normally take the RTS bus to campus. Will RTS change its regular
schedules?
A: RTS regular routes will remain unchanged though delays are possible during peak CMAC parking times of 4
to 7 p.m.
Q: Why is A-lot closed all day if the concert doesn’t start until evening?
A: Concert traffic begins arriving mid-afternoon while classes are still in session. The combined concert and
student traffic would be very difficult to manage and lead to confusion.
Q: Can I park at Honors House?
A: Students with a valid Honors House parking permit can park there from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The lot will be
used for paid concert parking in the evening.
Q: How does this affect the FLCC Child Care Center?
A: The child care center will close at 5:30 p.m. for children of students and 4:30 for children of non-students.
More information will be available from center staff.
Q: I am a student, and I want to go to the concert. Can I just leave my
car in the G-lot?
A: Yes. But you need to buy a ticket to get into the concert.
Q: My question is not on this list. Who can I ask?
A: Before 5 p.m. on Sept. 3: Contact Community Affairs at (585) 785-1660 or email to
[email protected] or Tweet to @flcc_connects.
After 5 p.m. on Sept. 3: Campus Safety non-emergency number (585) 785-1900. For emergencies, always call
911 directly.
