Pastor’s Letter
Dear Friends,
Wow! What a great weekend I just had with 35 of our young people down in San Diego. The Steubenville Conference was great, but what was even greater was to see 5500 young people from all over the Western United States come together to express their love of God and the Church. The energy of these young people, packed into a sports arena, to celebrate Morning Prayer (yes, Morning Prayer!), Mass and Adoration was
something to behold. Everyone prayed, sang, laughed, and cried together and in the process, 5500 diverse
young people became one. I wish more adults could have experienced what I did this past weekend. The
Church is alive and well, especially in our young people. Thank you, Annie, who heads up our Youth Group,
the chaperones, the drivers, all the people who filled out prayer request cards: all of you were instrumental in
making this weekend possible. But most especially, thank you young people, who went on this weekend, and
allowed God to touch your lives and make your lives just a little bit better. Our God is indeed an awesome
God!

Guau! Qué gran fin de semana acabo de tener con 35 de nuestros jóvenes en San Diego. Las Conferencias
Steubenville fueron excelentes, pero lo que lo major fue ver a 5500 jóvenes de todo el oeste de Estados
Unidos reunidos para expresar su amor a Dios y a la Iglesia. La energía de estos jóvenes, apretujados en un
estadio deportivo, para rezar Laudes (si, Oración de la mañana!),para la Misa y Adoración fue algo digno de
contemplar. Todo el mundo oraba, cantaba, reía y lloraba juntos y, en el proceso, 5.500 jóvenes diversos se
convirtieron en uno solo. Me hubiera gustado que más adultos hubieran experimentado lo que paso alla ese fin
de semana. La Iglesia está viva y palpitante, sobre todo en nuestros jóvenes. Gracias, Annie, por dirigir el
grupo de nuestros jóvenes, a los que nos acompañaron, a los conductores, a todas las personas que llenaron las
tarjetas de peticiónes: todos ustedes fueron cruciales para hacer posible este fin de semana. Pero sobre todo,
gracias a los jóvenes, que vivieron este fin de semana, y permitiron que Dios tocara sus vidas para hacerlas un
poco mejor. Nuestro Dios es verdaderamente un Dios maravilloso!

DOING OUR PART TO SAVE WATER
The Parish will be reducing our water usage by drastically
cutting back water used for the lawns, the Good Shepherd
Grotto and other landscaping. We must do our part as a member of the community to conserve where we can. We thank
you in advance for your understanding and support.

COLLECTION REPORT FOR JULY
We will be working on how to present the weekly collections to
you in an easily understood format. Because we have a large
number of parishioners on credit cards it may seem that we are
way over budget one week and very short the next. This fluctuation is due to the timing of the credit card charges and mail in
donations received from our Monthly Giving people. Below is
a July month to date which gives you a snapshot of our collections versus our budgeted numbers.

Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick
members of our community and for all who are in need. Amid
mental and physical suffering may they find consolation in your
healing presence. Show your mercy as you close wounds, cure
illness, make broken bodies whole and free downcast spirits.
May these special people find lasting health and deliverance,
and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this
through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.

Helping Hands Report to the Parish
During the first six months of 2014, the members of
Helping Hands have served our OLL parishioners in
a variety of ways. We have…
 Hosted 5 funeral receptions at the request of
bereaved families
 Presented 5 Baptismal Scrolls/Certificates and 1
Marriage Certificate in recognition of these sacraments
 Visited 24 parishioners who are homebound or
in residential care, delivering an Easter lily and
prayer card to each.
 Hosted coffee and donut receptions honoring
Sr. Jeanette and Fr. Raimondi
 Hosted the annual Parish Ministries Reception…
an occasion for both new and long time parishioners to socialize and learn about parish ministries and opportunities for service
 Donated to the OLL Youth Ministry Golf Tournament
 Prayed for the intentions of our members and
fellow parishioners at our weekly 1:00 p.m.

From OLL YOUTH MINISTRY:
A very heartfelt THANK YOU to all of you who supported our trip to Steubenville San Diego! Our teens
had a wonderful time and are ON FIRE to bring their experience back to OLL and put their faith into
practice in their own lives. Your support allowed us the incredible privilege of introducing 35 young
people to Jesus in a way that they didn't know was possible. Please keep them in your prayers as they
adjust to life back here at home.
TO ALL OF OUR STEUBIES: come to the Convent next Thursday, August 7 at 7pm. We've got a lot of
"unpacking" to do and a lot to get on the calendar for next year.
NEED SERVICE HOURS? Want to help out with this year's OLLYM Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 14? We need teens both on the course and at the dinner afterword. It's a fun way to spend the
day with your friends while knocking out some service hours at the same time. This opportunity is
