A centre of excellence in palliative care for people with life-threatening illnesses. Only a third of our funding comes from the NHS, the rest comes from donations – we need to raise £16,000 every day. Almost 94p in every £1 raised is spent on patient care. All our services are free We help around 3,000 people every year. We serve a population of around 1.2 million people (from across Greater Manchester and parts of Cheshire. Our services are provided by around 300 outstanding Hospice employees. We help people with a range of conditions, cancer and non-cancer. St Ann’s Hospice has 3 locations, providing care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 2 of those – with support 7 days a week within the community. The National Kidney Federation (NKF) is the patient's voice and is fighting to achieve high-quality renal treatment across the UK. It is the only national kidney charity run by patients, for patients. It is funded entirely by donations and sponsorships. The NKF has 2 specific roles: 1. Campaigning for improvements in renal provision and treatment. 2. Patient support services. The NKF's long-term campaign aims to convey the following messages: There is an urgent need for more organ donors. Many people will die waiting for an organ transplant. The current system for organ donation is not as effective as it could be and there is a need for improvements in the organ donation system to ensure that the maximum number of lives can be saved and transformed. It is essential that people thinking about organ donation and those who are willing to donate their organs after death carry a card, sign up to the register, and tell their relatives of their wishes. The NKF work tirelessly to persuade the government to provide better treatment and services for the 3 million people at risk of chronic kidney disease.
