Dear Campers,
Did the 2nd half really just begin?? Are we only at the end of the first week? Look
around camp. Doesn’t it feel like we are already right in the middle of it? The
transition from first half to second half with over 35 new campers arriving has
been a wonderful sight to behold. The learning, the Leagues, our spectacular
Night Activities, the fantastic Pool… It’s as if we’ve all been here together the
whole summer. What’s our secret? Are our staff members just that much better
than everywhere else? Are our campers that much more “Geshmake” than all the
other campers? Is our facility and all of our special activities that much more
superior than all of the other camps?
While we know the answer to all of the above is yes! yes! And yes! The truth is
much deeper than that. It’s that however great an individual is, and whatever
greatness people can achieve on their own, the power of being part of a Tzibbur
and a Chevra is tenfold. And that is our #1 character trait as a camp. We have
one schedule, one set of standards, and we really are one big “Chevra”. The
counselors are looking out for everyone, whether that camper is in their bunk or
not. The ping-pong games, the gym, the chess club… There is always a mix of
campers from different grades, divisions, and Yeshivos, wherever you go. Our
Division Head’s keep pointing out to us how “It just looks like everyone gets along
great with whoever they are sitting next to, volleying with, or playing against”.
So as we move ahead full force into next week (Big Trip on Thursday!), Let’s
continue to show the Achdus and camaraderie that have been on display until
now. And rest up over Shabbos, because on Monday, the Camp that never sleeps
will be more awake than ever!

A WORD FROM THE “WEIS”
There once was a very famous attorney (let’s call him Harry) who agreed to teach a bright young
man (let’s call him Bob) to become a lawyer. Bob didn’t have any money to pay for his training,
so they agreed Bob would pay Harry $100,000 after Bob won his first case on his own. However,
halfway through his training, Bob decided to quit his law lessons and join the air force. So Harry
decided to sue Bob in court for his money with the following logic; if the judge rules in my favor
Bob will have to pay me, and if I lose Bob will have won his first court case and he’ll have to
pay me! But Bob is also confident because he thinks to himself, if the judge rules in my favor I
don’t have to pay, and if he rules in favor of Harry, I still haven't won my first case so i don’t
