Issue #5 September 15, 2014 OCA IN TOUCH Inspiring For Life While Keeping You Informed OCA Online Welcome To Our New Staff We are excited to introduce you to a couple of our new staff for the 2014-2015 school year! God has blessed us with two wonderful, well-equipped ladies to take up the rope and pull with us here at Oasis as we “Make Every Effort” to inspire students for the life of service that our Lord has for them. OCA Website Here you can find…# Sycamore Here you can find…# Melanie West Our new addition to the Math faculty is Mrs. Melanie West. Originally born in New York, Melanie moved to Florida when she was young and has called the Orlando area home ever since. She is an outdoors enthusiast who is as comfortable running a trail as she is behind the handlebars of a Honda motorcycle. Her hobbies include gardening, crocheting, running, and drawing. She has thirteen years of experience homeschooling her three children (her youngest graduated high school this past spring) and four years of experience teaching in a private school prior to her arrival at Oasis. We look forward to all that Mrs. West has to contribute to our family here at Oasis. She will have the opportunity to inspire our K-3 students this school year. Sharleen is a Florida native born and raised in Plant City who now calls Winter Haven home. Though this is her first year teaching, Sharleen has been invested in our school for several years. She has two children who live in the area (Jason Saffels and Melissa Carr) and three grandchildren who all attend Oasis (Christian Giles-10th, Joshua Carr-5th, and Michael Carr-K5). When she’s not teaching, Sharleen enjoys sewing, reading, and casting a line in the water. We thank God for allowing us to transition such a faithful (grand)parent partner on to our faculty. It’s so exciting to see Oasis family become part of our staff. Family Fun Night In just three short weeks, we will celebrate our first Family Fun Night of the year. This promises to be a night to remember with spirited competition, fantastic food, and sure-to-be blooper reel material. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the one to capture the $10,000 moment on film? Please mark down Friday Night, OCTOBER 3rd, on your calendars. 2
