All About Us
Lynch Hill is a large, thriving Primary School
based in the West of Slough. We have grown
rapidly over the last three years, from a twoform to four-form entry school.
What are the benefits of being an
employee of Lynch Hill School?
“
“
Despite this growth, our standards, support and
expectations have remained consistently high,
for both pupils and staff alike. Our last OFSTED,
graded our school as ‘Outstanding’

We serve a very diverse community who are
very important to us. Our school represents our
community: There are forty-six home-languages
represented within our school, we have pupils
from a range of cultural, ethnic and socioeconomic groups.
This helps create a rich, tolerant, respectful
community that is empathetic to the needs
of others.
We can offer the support that comes from
working in a large 4-form entry school:
Opportunities to plan together and work
collaboratively helps to lighten the workload.
Teamwork is the key to success. We recognise
you as an individual and will offer personalised
support and guidance to enable your career to
progress in the path you desire. ‘Growing our
own’ is a principle embedded in our practice,
this is affirmed by our Gold Award Status in the
Investors in People scheme.
As part of a Multi-Academy Trust you enjoy
the benefits of longer holidays, assessment
days during term-time and even one paid
‘Reward Day’ per year. Obviously, there will be
some teaching or administrative tasks that

will be carried out beyond the school day. In
recognition of this we provide all of our
Teaching Staff with a laptop for the duration
of their employment.
As an academy, we are mindful of all the national
agreements and incorporate the decisions
of the School Teachers Pay and Conditions
document paying salaries which reflect national
agreements. The only exception to this is the
reference to 1265 hours over 195 days, directed
time. Our staff work just 187 days, which means
there are 8 days additional holiday, including a
two-week break in October.
Full details can be found in our Pay Policy which
is available on request.

What are our values?
The principles of high
expectations regarding work and
behaviour, and high self-esteem
underpin everything we do.
How do we create this?
We have a vibrant, inclusive, creative and supportive
learning environment where pupils are encouraged
to achieve well and be ‘a roaring success ‘.
A - Achievement for all
R - Rights respecting
O - Opportunities
A - Aspiration
R - Relationships
I - Inclusion
N - Never giving up
G - Guidance
We believe that every child can and should
achieve their full potential. It is, therefore, our
responsibility to make it happen through the
many different approaches we use to help
children succeed. We celebrate Achievement,
raise Aspirations, and show Respect through our
strapline ‘Learning Together’. High expectations
coupled with appropriate challenge and tailored
support means that ‘failure is not an option’ at
Lynch Hill - this is what sets us apart from
other schools.
What makes us
Outstanding?
Being Outstanding is not about an OFSTED
grading, it is about recognising and fulfilling the
potential in each and every one of our pupils
so they can be ‘the best that they can be’. If our
pupils transfer to secondary school having selfbelief and a strong sense of self-worth then we
know we have succeeded. We instil this sense
of self-worth through our curriculum based on
‘Rights and Respects’ and Global citizenship.

Responding to the Pupil voice is an essential
part in what we do to ensure we succeed. We
recognise and develop leadership qualities,
providing opportunities for pupils to take key
roles in the school council, sports council, eco
council. Working alongside lunchtime staff, older
pupils deliver high quality playground activities.
The impact of our young leaders on raising
aspirations of the other pupils is extremely
powerful.
Learning does not simply take place in the
classroom; staff are encouraged to plan exciting
outside learning opportunities across the
academic year. Day and residential trips help
to provide our pupils with rich and varied
experiences. Our pupils love clubs! 84% of
our pupils stay beyond 3.10pm in order to
participate in an afterschool club linked to
the Children’s University. Over 580 children
Graduated at Royal Holloway University in July
2015. We are the only school on this side of the
town to participate in this fabulous scheme.
