Picasa 3.9 Web Album
The Picasa client is the software that allows you to organize, edit, and upload your photos in
quick, easy steps to the web.
First, download Picasa from http://picasa.google.com. Picasa does not store the photos on your
computer. When you open Picasa, it simply looks at the folders on your computer and displays the
photos it finds. It displays the file types that you tell it to find, in the folders that you tell it to search.
When using editing tools in Picasa, your original files are never touched. The photo edits you make
are only viewable in Picasa until you decide to save your changes. Even then, Picasa creates a new
version of the photo with your edits applied, leaving the original file totally preserved (nondestructive editing).
Picasa Online Web Albums on http://picasaweb.google.com provides 15 GB of free online
storage space for your albums. Maximum photo size can be no larger than 75 MB; maximum number
of web albums is 20,000. It is the online component of Picasa. After you have edited your photos
using the Picasa client, you then upload them to the web to share with your friends. Before you do
that, you need to sign up for a Gmail account.

Picasa Web Album
Picasa Web album (picasaweb.google.com) is the online component of Picasa.
Google has begun to redirect users from the old Picasa URL (picasaweb.google.com) to Google+
Photos, which currently still offers a way to return to the old Picasa Web Albums interface. Simply
click the message: "Click here to go back to Picasa Web Albums." if it appears on the top of your
screen.
To use Picasa-web-albums, without being sent to Google+ photos, you just need to start it using this
link: https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/myphotos?noredirect=1
There is no problem with using the old Picasa-web-albums instead of Google+ Photos. You still only
keep one set of photos in your Google account. It just happens that Google now have two pieces of
software that can access these photos. One is Google+ Photos, and the other is Picasa-web-albums.
If you have a Google+ account, either because you only signed up for Google recently, or you had
a Blogger account first and then linked your blog to Google+, then you will know that if you go to
Picasa-web-albums, you are immediately re-directed to Google+ photos.
Look at the two interfaces below.
