Maintenance and
Safety Check Day
We had our first Maintenance Checklist for SVAA. We had 4 cars
for that day. Susan F. Shawn G. Cliff R. and John D. brought their
vehicles, did the checklist and they are kept in the vehicles. We
will also host another Maintenance Checklist date to be announced. Thank you Shawn for hosting the day!

My 1963 Grand Prix was a gift from my wife for my 50th Birthday! We saw the car
advertised in the Auto Trader, it was listed in April and was August when we saw the
ad. Thinking it would already be gone, my hopes were dashed. Mary insisted I call
anyway. We spoke to the original owner several times, asked for a video of the car
starting and running. Mary had already purchased our tickets to Barrett Jackson, so
we told him that if we didn’t purchase a car there, we would love to buy his. While
we were at the show he called us asking if we had bought a car or not. Of course
we didn’t and asked if the ‘63 was still for sale.
We came home, called and told him to send us his banking info and arranged for
transportation from Mississauga, Ontario. We were promised a 21day delivery from
October 3, 2013. We waited until November 27, 2013 for our baby to arrive. Well,
she arrived in the middle of a snow storm, frozen solid from being on a trailer for 6
days at temperatures of –26C and lower. “Help” calls went out to family and
friends, we needed to push it around the block to the garage. Thank God for good
friends and family!
Well we got her in and turned on 5 heaters overnight. We had to buy a new battery
because it was bulging. After we replaced the battery, I turned the key and she
roared to life for the fist time in her new home. It brought new tears to my eyes, his
reply brought tears to ours. He made us promise to keep the “Black Rose” all original, which we have every intention of doing.
We keep in close contact with the original owner and his sons. We have sent them
each a copy of the Calendar she is in. We send them pictures of any trophies she
wins. Last February when we took her to World of Wheels, we called them and told
them. His answer was “Oh My God!, my youngest just moved to Calgary”. He told
his son, who then came to introduce himself and share stories with us of growing up
with Dad and “The Rose”.

THANKS!
Hi Mike,
Just a quick note to say THANK YOU to you and the Members of the AIIPC for showing
up despite the crazy weather on Saturday. The TV station was impressed and I will
make sure to give you a copy when it is available ok.
On a different note, I would like to extend the same courtesy to your club members
as I once did to the Edmonton Street Rod Association i.e. if your members could send
me a picture of their respective car (digital)
along with the year/
model and their respective name, I will get the
picture framed and
proudly display on our
feature wall inside the
retail store. The more
you send me the merrier
of course.
This way, instead of just
looking at the ESRA pictures, your members can
feel part of Rock-N-Wash
and we will proudly display.
Let me know if this is of
interest.
Cheers!

Meals on Wheels
As you all know, your AIIPC has always dedicated a lot of time and effort in charity
work for different causes. This time it was Big Wheels Deliver Meals. Big Wheels Deliver Meals is a day where classic car owners work with Meals on Wheels and local
celebrities to deliver meals to homebound people.
On June 5, 2015, five of the AIIPC members met with approximately 20 other classic
car owners at the Save-On-Foods parking lot downtown on 109St. We were preregistered so Meals on Wheels already had the meals prepared and had a list of
which celebrity we were each matched with. So at 10:30 we met our celebrity and
picked up our meals and prepared to head out to different areas of the city.
The celebrities were mostly local political dignitaries and a few Edmonton Oil Kings
Hockey players.
I was paired up with newly elected NDP, MLA, Chris Nielsen from the Edmonton
Decore riding. Our deliveries were all in his riding on the North side with some in Dickinsfield and Dover.
The people we visited ranged from 18 to 80 with a variety of issues such as being
wheelchair bound and blindness. It was an eye opening experience for me.
We then returned to Save-On-Foods for an afternoon Show N Shine that was well attended by people from the area.
It’s always nice to be part of a worth while cause. If anyone is interested in helping
deliver meals with Meals on Wheels, they are always looking for volunteers!
Lance Briggs
Lance was with Chris Nielsen
(MLA for Edmonton – Decore).
Denise was with James Cumming.
Mike was with David Shepherd
(MLA for Edmonton – Centre),
and Cal Wrathall (EMOW
board member).
Shawn was with our volunteer
Torin and Marty Forbes.
Sid was with Rod Loyola (MLA
for Edmonton – Ellerslie).

President’s Message
Well another Ron Hodgson's Show and Shine is in the books, I want to personally
thank Mike Launer and his team for a job well done! We are in the middle of our
show and shine season, members of our club have done well in picking up hardware at many shows. As a car club, we have a wide variety of vehicles and many
outstanding restorations. Congratulations to all our winners this car show season.
The key to any successful car club is growth and volunteers, with our club we have
seen good growth the past couple of years with membership over 100. We are
always looking for new members, they don't have to own Pontiac's, they just have
to enjoy the hobby and follow the AIIPC Mission statement. I personally would like
to see more members with unique Pontiac's such as Fieros, Solstice, G8s, 4 th Generation Firebirds and Trans Ams, 1970s Grand Ams and Grand Prix, late 1990s super
charged Bonnevilles. Pontiac was always on the leading edge of styling and performance up until 2009. Members, if you see these cars at shows, talk to the owners and suggest joining our club. I personally think we have the best car club in Alberta , for events, friendship and growing the Pontiac hobby.
In any well organized club it takes volunteers to make a car show successful.
Once again, we had another successful show with Ron Hodgson's All Make Show
and Shine with all our proceeds going to Stars Ambulance. The countless man
hours that it takes Mike and his team to produce a class event is staggering. I personally would like to thank all our volunteers who helped this event once again become a success. Now that brings me to my next observation… We need new
blood! We have the same 20 or so people helping out at all of our events. For our
club to grow, we need fresh ideas, any bit of commitment is a help, with parking,
selling tickets, setting up etc. Any help would be appreciated on a go forward
basis.
Looking forward to seeing our members out the various car shows and show and
shines the rest of the summer. I am fortunate enough to have a couple of new
Pontiac's in my collection. One just arrived a few weeks ago and was fortunate
enough to win at its first show. I am also looking forward to the Rocky Mountain
Nationals in Mid July at Castrol Raceways and to help John Dampf on his quest for
an Iron Man Trophy. Looking forward to meeting any new members and catching
up with ones I have not seen in a while.

SUPER RUN ROCKIN’ RED DEER
2015
The stage is set and everything is being put in
place for Super Run 2015 in Red Deer, July 27
through August 8. Events include cruises to various local establishments, museums and private
collections each day from Monday through
Thursday and the well-known downtown cruise
on Friday night, in addition to the show on Saturday and Sunday at the Westerner Fair
Grounds. The event is limited to 850 entries and
more and more vehicles from Western Canada
and the Pacific Northwest will be making their
way to Red Deer for what is arguably one of , if
not the best, car events in western Canada.
Rather than a dance this year, the Saturday
evening dinner will present a concert-style
venue featuring Dr. D’s Canadian Bandstand
and acts by impersonators of Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Tina Turner, Cher, Dolly Parton, Roy Orbison,
Buddy Holly & Garth Brooks. So mark your calendar and check out the website to register.
Pre-register before May 1, 2015 and you could
win $500.00. You won’t want to miss this. Register at www.rocknreddeer.com
HELP IS NEEDED FROM OUR MEMBERS!
My name is Mark Kapusta and I live in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I purchased a 1946 Pontiac about a
month ago and I have a few questions regarding. The previous owner said that the vehicle was
from Canada and that the model is a Torpedo. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is as follows: 6201905439. My question is I'm not sure if it is a Torpedo or a Fleetleader.
Also, where exactly in Canada was
the vehicle assembled. I've done
some research on-line, however a
lot of the information contradicts
itself.
I can send some pictures if that
helps, also my cell phone number is
414-975-5094.

Race News
The month of June has ended and we are into the heart of the race season in Alberta. I was unable to attend Street Legal Racing on June 12th as planed due to a
rain out.
I just recently purchased a 1968 Firebird Race Car from the Vancouver Area, I will be
picking it up in the next couple of weeks and look forward to racing it full time next
year. It’s a fully certified 8.50 Race Car, with a Ford 9 inch rear end, Mark Williams axles, Strange center section with spool, Fiberglass Cowl, and bumpers. Transmission is
a Turbo 400 with reverse valve body and pattern, Hurst shifter and line lock. And for
a little more excitement a Trans Brake has been installed.
The interior has been left stock, the suspension has
been upgraded with drag shocks and a fully adjustable Cal Tracs. A set of Hooker Super Comp Headers and full 3 inch cross over exhaust.
I will be installing my freshly built All Pontiac Engine
and will be running events throughout Western Canada and the USA. We are hoping to have the car
dialed in to run No Box, Pro and Super Rod on a
10.10 index for April 2016.
John Dampf is in the final steps of getting his car sorted out for the Rocky Mountain
Nationals at Castrol Raceways July 17th to 19th.
The final engine assembly is taking place as this goes to print. We are hoping for full
testing the weekend of July 10th.
Pistons and rings are
assembled and ready
for the engine.

top. Asking $28,500.00
1 Large Shirt with AIIPC Logo, new. Call Sid at 780-483-7258.
1954 2 door Pontiac coupe that is all original. It has the 6 cylinder flat head, with
almost 51,000 miles.
It runs like a top, nice and quiet no problems. I've done plugs & wires, re-cored the
Rad, belts, hoses, and an electric 6 volt fuel pump. (I don't know how to fix the
original and this is more reliable.) It's also a 3 in the tree. Original interior that
shows a 10/10 which is hard to find. All rubber seals, electrical wires etc is 100%
good.
No rust at all , it runs on a set of bias ply tires yet from 1966. I have part of a receipt,
and are in perfect shape and kept out of the sun. Here are some pictures. It is appraised at $7,000.00 but I will consider $6,000.00 obo. I think that's fair as a quad is
$12,000 new now a days. I can be reached at 780-886-2155 leave message or

A very successful attorney parked his brand new Lexus in front of his office, ready
to show it off to his colleagues. As he was getting out, a truck came along too
closely and completely tore off the driver's door.
Fortunately, a cop in a police car was close enough to see the accident and
pulled up behind the Lexus with his lights flashing.
Before the cop had a chance to ask any questions, the attorney started screaming
hysterically about how his Lexus, which he had just purchased the day before, was
completely ruined and would never be the same, no matter how any car body
shop tried to make it new again.
After the lawyer finally wound down from his rant, the cop shook his head in disbelief. "I can't believe how materialistic you lawyers are," he said. "You are so focused on your possessions that you neglect the most important things in life."
"How can you say such a thing?" asked the lawyer.
The cop replied, "Don't you even realize that your left arm is missing? It was severed when the truck hit you!"
"Oh, my God!!!" screamed the lawyer. "My Rolex!!"
