Optimist Club of Stoney Creek September 2014 Rocky Ditch Journal President’s sePtember message Dear Optimists, Another summer is coming to an end. It’s time for the kids to go back to school, the cottages to be closed, hockey bags to be dusted off and to get back to the business of Optimism. Not to say our club hasn’t been extremely busy this summer. We had another fantastic year at the Winona Peach Festival. Optimist Nathan put together a team-minded staff who worked hard and efficiently. Thank you to all our members, volunteers and friends for a great Festival. Optimist Mark held his annual Mid Summer’s Dream Festival in Gage Park on August 16th. Mother Nature could have been a bit more cooperative, especially considering we were selling freezies and ice cold water. All things considered, it was a great way for our club to break into this venue, and we’ve got some great ideas for next year. Optimist Mark should be commended for his work with this event. Well done. I’m looking forward to seeing you all. I love where our club is going right now & couldn’t be more excited to start planning the upcoming year. 2013-2014 Executive Past President – Vacant President – A.J. To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet. To make all your friends feel that there is something in them. To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best. To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile. To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. 4
