TEACHER
SPOTLIGHT
Art Club filled to capacity in record time!
Students excited to get creative
Art club registration forms all but flew into Ms. McMahan’s, Art Teacher
at HSE, hands. Students in all grades were excited about the projects that
are lined up for the fall semester. Every class exceeded the initial
expectations of 10 slots each.
Ms. Huerta
5th grade ELA / Social Studies
If you were to combine learning with
good conversation, you would have a
typical lesson in Ms. Huerta’s
classroom. This is greatly due to the
fact that Ms. Huerta initially wanted
to be a school counselor. After
finishing her undergraduate in
Psychology, Ms. Huerta planned on
using some teaching experience to
help her be a better counselor, but
the reverse has happened. Ms.
Huerta
uses
her
psychology
background to help her be a better
teacher. She asks parents to
encourage their students to read,
read, read! And do whatever they
need to make it fun.
Ms. Huerta’s favorite
book was socks for
Supper; her mother read
it almost every night.
