Writing Across the Curriculum
We were glad to receive Mr. Rick Shelton in our school. For three
days our teachers had the opportunity to learn and observe new
teaching techniques on how to enhance our students’ writing skills.

meeting at 8:30 am at
the cafeteria. All
parents are invited!
We are implementing a new program this year, in which students
will have to use their writing skills in all classes, even Math and
Sciences!
This is just the beginning of a greater effort to help
our students to become better
communicators.
Earthquake
Drill
After
School
September 20th will be
the day when we will pay
our respects to the
victims of the 1985
earthquake in Mexico
City. A nationwide drill
will take place on this
day.
After school starts on
September 27th. If your
child has not made up a
failed subject from last
school year, he/she must
attend after school.

We have a great Middle and High School Parent Teacher
Association (PTA). If you wish to know more about their work

They are also looking for more parents to become part of the
PTA.

The good news just keeps on coming!
The parents at the Open House were the first ones to receive the good
news that Westhill Institute is ready to become an IB school.
We will become one of the only two schools in the country that will be
accredited by both, AdvancEd (SACS-CASI) and International
Baccalaureate.
The High School will be the first to be accredited with the Diploma
Program. After that the Middle School will adopt the Middle Years
Program and the Elementary Schools and Kinders the Primary Years
Program.
This is another effort in our commitment to
continuous improvement.
Early Dismissal

September 30th students will
be dismissed at 12:30.
Please make the necessary
arrangements for this day.

Bachillerato Internacional en WI
¡Las buenas noticias siguen llegando!
Los padres de familia que asistieron al Open House fueron los primeros
en recibir la buena noticia de que Westhill Institute esta listo para
convertirse en un colegio BI.
Seremos uno de sólo dos colegios en el país que estarán acreditados tanto
por AdvancEd (SACS-CASI) como por el Bachillerato Internacional.
High School será la primera con el Programa del Diploma. Después de
esto seguirá Middle School, que adoptará el Programa de los Años
Intermedios y Elementary School y Kinders con el Programa de los Años
de Primaria.
Este es otro esfuerzo en nuestro compromiso
con la mejora continua.
