Parents, Staff and Friends of King School,
Want to be part of making King School a great place for students to learn and grow
socially/emotionally? Come to the organizational meeting of King School’s PTO on March 10 at
2:00 p.m. Ms. Etisha Giddens, the District Parent Coordinator, will lead us in our efforts to form a
Parent-Teacher-Community Organization. We need everyone’s help in sharing their ideas for this
new group. We need YOU! At the meeting, you will learn how to be a King volunteer.
I want to commend Mrs. Austin, the staff members and the students for the wonderful Black
History Program. Every student participated, and it was truly a memorable experience.
Mrs. Bradburn
Approximately 130 parents and family members attended King’s Black History Program on
March 5. Every class PreK—5 performed with songs, poems, dance and rap. The Cougar Chorale,
under the direction of Mr. Cierski, the music teacher. Mrs. Austin, the third/fourth grade teacher,
wrote the script for the narrators and directed the program. Working collaboratively with Mrs.
Austin, the staff and students presented an outstanding program.

Conferences
In April, it will be time to
meet with the teachers to check
on the progress of your children. Put April 7 on your calendar. Students will receive
five dollars in Cougar Cash to
spend at the Treasure Room
if their parents come to the
conferences.
Research shows that children whose parents are involved in their education do
better in school. Ask your
child’s teacher what you can do
at home to help your child. Just
20 minutes a day assisting your
children with a skill, listening
to them read and/or reading to
them can make a huge difference in their progress.
Support your children. Conferences are from 1:00—7:00
p.m. with a break from 4:00—
5:00 p.m.
