Directory 2011
Gujarati Samaj is planning to publish 2011 Directory of this year. We request all members to
visit GSOD.org to update/verify their membership before May 2011 to get their listing in
directory. Only current Gujarati Samaj members will get the directory so please become
member before May 2011.
GSY Valentine’s Dance 2011
Like every year, GSY put together their annual GSY Valentine’s Dance. The event was held on February 4,
2011 at Club Inferno in Walled Lake. Under the GSOD EC team and a great team themselves, GSY was able to put
together a very successful event.
Every year, GSY works to their fullest to put together a successful event. This year, with almost fifty members, GSY put together an unforgettable event. Directors, Megha Patel and Nirali Makim, and their entire GSY
team were able to sell more than two hundred fifty tickets and make $200 more than their past years.
Because of their hard work, this year they went down in GSY history by having the highest number of Valentine Dance attendees. With the ACT around the corner it was difficult to keep every GSY member well –informed,
but with a great team, Megha and Nirali were able to still get everyone informed and have an enjoyable and excellent event.
This year, unlike past years, GSY took the chance, and were able to get a DJ outside of the Club Inferno
staff. DK Kuku helped a great amount by coming out and making the night wonderful for GSY and everyone who
attended. Nirali and Megha received wonderful feedback from attendees not just about the dance, but how great
the DJ was, the music was, how the event was organized, and so many requests for another dance! The GSY team
is ecstatic about all these comments and feels so much more motivated for their upcoming events.
Megha and Nirali, along with the entire GSY team, would like to thank, Rita Patel, Tina Makim, and Nita
Shah for taking their time to come and stay throughout the entire event and support them along the way; and
would also like to thank Chintan Pathak (DJ Kuku) for coming out and making the event even more successful
than ever before.
With a new year, GSY was able to put together such successful events and working very hard to make
sure that their future events are even better. As of now, GSY is working hard for Holi Program and Relay for Life,
where they’re hoping to raise money to go towards cancer patients; with your support GSY is able to make such
goals knowing they will succeed.

Introducing a new look for Gujarati Samaj
Our 2010 results, with an operational performance underline the pertinence and hard work from committee members. Moreover,
membership growth, based on a record participation from community members and participation level, the rising importance of providing value to our membership from Samaj, has set up a platform for further growth. Thanks to everyone from members, sponsors, advertisers, volunteers, and event participants who were instrumental in making 2010 a great success for Gujarati Samaj.
Year 2010 was a great year for growth for GSOD including GSY and GSS chapter, Activities from GSY has created foundation for
growth which will lead to participation from youth group to complement Samaj activities. GSS chapter also had a very active year with
movie and lunch for $5.00, trip to Vraj which brought tears to all attendees with emotional feeling of being participated in a trip to embrace cultural values. Navratri program with record participation and Gujarati Cultural music from Gujarati Music legend Praful Dave
was breath taking and to top it all, GSOD was able to turn the clock back by years to provide values to our membership for celebration
of Diwali for $15.00.
To begin 2011, GSOD team have had a great start with record participation during GSY Valentines day dance attendance ,2011 Holi
program have more participants than 2010 and GSS activities have begun with Movie and Lunch at Canton Imagine Theater. We look
forward to see you all at other activities. GSOD membership for 2011 has already surpassed the membership levels at this time compared to previous years.
Going forward we’ve got some exciting news to share, As a GSOD member, you are among the first to know that Samaj will be introducing updated Website soon.
