Lake St. Clair is truly a boater’s paradise. Its average
depth is 11 feet, so the water warms quickly in the spring.
With dozens of islands and a mostly sandy bottom, there
are a multitude of great spots to anchor, gather and take
a dip with the entire family while others may be more
adult friendly!
So what if you don’t know what to do and where to
go? “There is something for everyone on Lake St. Clair,”
according to Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel.

On any given day, Lake St. Clair, also know as “The Heart
of the Great Lakes,” is home for such pleasures as a ride on
a go-fast boat, reeling in a trophy musky, pedaling your
bike along the shore, enjoying the sunset with a glass of
wine at a waterfront restaurant — and so much more.

own personal passions and pleasures.
And the great thing about Lake St. Clair is that you’ll

within minutes of each other—unlike the other Great
Lakes, where there are vast expanses of roadways and
waterways between stops.
But make no mistake, Lake St. Clair is Big Water. With 440
square miles of surface area, and 160 miles of shoreline,
it’s about 26 miles long and 24 miles wide (yes, that means
here in Macomb County, Michigan’s
backyard.“Lake St. Clair is the busiest
freshwater lake than any other lake in
the world during the summer months,”
Hackel adds.
It’s little wonder Lake St. Clair is such
a boating Mecca. It boasts hundreds of
marinas, parks, piers, coastal hamlets,
and anchorages—and has some 150,000
registered boats of all sizes and shapes
in the region and several of the State’s
busiest boat launch ramps —all to enjoy
its waterways during the busy season.
Adding to Lake St. Clair’s appeal is the
fact that it sits between two countries—
the U.S. and Canada, thus has an

truly an incredible location to cast your
line. Various other species swim fat and
plentiful here as well including walleye,
bass and perch.
“Guide your own boat into one of our
many area docks, head out with one of
our experienced charters, or simply drop
a line from a waterside park,” he says.
“Other opportunities await you as well
— for a leisurely excursion, try stand-up
paddle boarding along the calm shores
of Lake St. Clair, or take a seat and kayak
your way through the gentle currents.
And for the ultimate wet and wild thrill,
ride the open waves by jet skiing or strap
on a pair of water skis and hang on tight.”
Other great Ontario destinations also
beckon, including Belle River on the
Lake, the Thames River, Chatham-Kent,
Wallaceburg and the Sarnia-Lambton
area—all accessible by sea and by land.
And along the Michigan shoreline, you
can explore mile after mile of great ports

outhwest Florida is home to

arts and entertainment options ranging
from festivals to the philharmonics. And
Southwest Florida is home to many parttime snowbirds and full time residents
who hail from the Great Lakes Regions in
the United States and Canada.
One of the most unique features of
southwest Florida is its many options
for waterfront living: along the Gulf of
Mexico, inland deep water canals, rivers,
bays, and lakes. The variety of waterfront
recreation is extraordinary: pleasure
boating on yachts, cruisers, personal
watercraft, or sailboat; kayaking,
canoeing, and paddle boarding; water
skiing; and world-class salt-water and
freshwater angling. Whether traveling by
land or by sea, there are beautiful white
sand beaches along the entire coast.
The primary categories of waterfront
properties in southwest Florida are:
„ Gulf of Mexico beach front
„ Caloosahatchee River front
„ Bays and Harbors
„ Deep Saltwater Canals (aka channels)
All Southwest Florida coastal areas
have waterfront property, but Cape
Coral is by far the most abundant, with
over 400 miles of canals. The ultimate
perk: the boat is just steps away in the
backyard (say hello to the spontaneous
cocktail cruise).

properties start in the low one millions.
Vacant, unimproved sailboat access home

clearance of 8 or 10 feet at mean high

For boaters, the choices for short or

home is in Cape Coral, smack dab in the middle
of some of the greatest boating Florida has
to offer. From our home base where our 31’

all popular cruising destinations for Southwest
