Zephyrus- 2013 - Canyon Wind Cellars
“In Vino Ventus” Creation The god of the warm west wind, Zephyrus, was the gentlest of the winds. Often depicted as a handsome, winged youth, he was known as the fructifying wind and messenger of spring. There was never a dull moment in the 2013 season. We experienced our usual warm and sunny days; but also faced record rains, fog, wind, and some unusually chilly evenings. This weather roller coaster, while trying at times for us as grape growers, made for some complex and flavorful wines that highlight the fruit, earthiness, and intrigue of our unique terroir. Aged ten months in new French and American oak, this wine was created using low-intervention and sustainable practices. A blend of 50% Cabernet Franc and 50% Petit Verdot (the same as the first vintage in 2010), the 2013 Zephyrus is a perfect study in the two varieties that constitute its blend. Aromas of plum, molasses, clove, huckleberry, pepper, mint, and black cherry make each sniff a fascinating new discovery. Big tannins and a broad mouthfeel with flavors of black cherry, cedar, cassis, black pepper, plantain, blueberry, meat drippings, and minerality all come together creating a lingering finish and a true appreciation for the warm West wind. 3907 North River Road | Palisade | Colorado 81526 www.anemoiwines.com [email protected] Wine Profile Varietal Blend: 50% Cabernet Franc 50% Petit Verdot Vintage: 2013 Appellation: Grand Valley AVA Terroir: 100% Riverside Vineyard Technical Data Alcohol: 14.0 % Wine Acidity: 6.0 g/L Wine pH: 3.68 Harvest Date: September 16, 2013 October 3, 2013 Bottling Date: July 31, 2014 Cases Produced: 94
