We took LP SmartSide to our testing grounds in
Hilo, Hawaii. With 170 inches of annual rain there,
we tested resistance to moisture and fungal decay,
by exposing siding samples without paint on 90and 45-degree angled walls. We have been testing
over 10 years — the testing equivalent of 30 years
— and no LP SmartSide has shown any structural
damage
And Termites Hate It
We laid traditional wood siding and LP SmartSide
in containers of Formosan termite colonies. After
three years of bedding down with one of the
world’s most damaging pests, there was almost
nothing left of the traditional siding. The LP SmartSide had virtually no damage.
