Diving in Oahu
The diving
The best diving is often found where the human impact is minimal.
Hawaii is more than 3219 kilometers from the nearest continental
landmass, and is, to say the least… very remote, extremely lush and
amazingly tropical. That remoteness pays off with some of the most
pristine scenery, cleanest air and unique marine creatures on the
planet. But, the US’ diminutive 50th state is also a land of contrast,
from the fire of lava to the ice of snow-capped volcanoes, farmland
and cities, waterfalls and sandy beaches. In short, it’s a Pacific
paradise, particularly so for divers! The deep waters surrounding the
island, attracts the larger mammals, like humpback whales in the
winter time. But dolphins, turtles, sharks and manta rays are present
all year round.
(If you want to dive with the Manta Rays, we recommend you to head
over to our dive center on Big Island and the famous Kona Dive!).
The diving around Oahu is for the wreck interested, fish loving diver.
Check out some of the dive site descriptions in this brochure, there’s
some really cool dives in the area. And keep in mind, it’s the Pacific
Ocean. It YELLS awesome warm water diving!

Diving in Oahu
Location
Okay, we will not go nuts on describing Hawaii, the island of Oahu or
Waikiki Beach. Go GOOGLE it! There’s so much cool stuff around,
far too much to write down in this little section of our brochure. But,
we want you to know, that the island of Oahu offers the best public
transportation of all of the Hawaiian Islands, so you can get around
cheap and easily! And, our hostel can help you with most things like
food, surfboards, moped rentals, laundry washing, towel hiring and
backpack storage rooms. Easy!
Your hostel
The Waikiki Beachside Hostel is located in Honolulu less than a
block from the world famous Waikiki Beach. It is perfectly located
close to restaurants, nightlife, shopping, beaches, and all Hawaii’s
main adventure activities and attractions. Besides the hostel being
your perfect little hub for your adventures around Oahu, it is also a
soulful and peaceful place. In one corner of the hostel, you find soft
couches, pling pling music and a large library of healing, meditational
and spiritual books. And some evenings, you can join a class of
social meditation and rejuvenating healing with your fellow travelers.
We LOVE this place!
Your room
We have two options for accommodation in Waikiki Beachside
hostel. You can either chose a clean and comfy dorm bed, in a 4 or 8
people mixed dorm room… There’s A/C in all rooms. Fresh bed
linens are included, but blankets are rented out at the front desk for a
cheap buck.
Waikiki Beach, Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii
Diving in Oahu
This is only a selection of the many dive sites represented
on this particular destination. The diving is dictated by the
safeness of the environment.
Koko Crater
Koko Crater is a great place for certified divers and beginners with
a depth limit of just 13 meters. This is a cleaning Station for the
Hawaii Green Sea Turtle. The turtles bundle up on this location
and some claim it to be the turtle capital of the world. The dive
site is also a favorite to our dive center since everything comes by
from time to time. From humpback whales and dolphins to Monk
Seals.
Turtle Canyon Hawaii Kai
Turtle Canyon’s is the turtle spot off Waikiki where you’ll often
see 10 to 20 turtles on one dive. This is a series of reef fingers
with an incredible amount of life and will be fun for everyone, even
snorkelers. On a clear day even the most experienced divers will
come up amazed. Turtle canyons is a very large and calm site
where two dives will still not see the entire site.
Yo - 257
This wreck has a deeper depth and is a crew favorite. Everyone
loves diving the YO. Not only is the YO a great wreck but when
conditions are right and the air is plentiful you can swim about 40
yards over to San Pedro which lies beside her. Diving two
fantastic wrecks on the same dive, beat that!!!
San Pedro:
Another pretty wreck on the bottom of the ocean. This dive site is
where we have our best chances of seeing white tip reef sharks.
Corsair:
This is our Hawaii Gem when it comes to wrecks. With a max
depth of around 30 meters, this airplane plumaged into the ocean
during a training exercise in Pearl Harbor in 1948. The pilot
survived the crash and the plane is in perfect condition. This is a
favorite wreck! The dive crew claims to have seen everything from
monk Seals, large sharks and humpback whales scratching
themselves on the mooring ball.
Conditions:
------------------------------------------------------Visibility
Usually the visibility is really good around
Ohau. It can drop down below 10 meters
when conditions dictate it
Water Temperature
A comfortable average of 23-27 degrees
overall, towards the cool end of this range in
winter and warmer in summer
Current
Current can occur on most dive sites,
however, there will be a line to help you
descend and ascend
Certification level
PADI Open water diver or equivalent
Perfect not only for the novice diver, but has
a lot to offer for the experienced diver and
underwater photographer.
Special marinelife
You should be able to see white-tip reef
sharks, giant green sea turtles, moray eels,
slipper lobsters, reef fish and hundreds of
other critters at dive sites around the islands.
In some locations, morning dives offer
spotted dolphin sighting opportunities. In
winter, you can see migrating humpback
whales topside and even hear them sing
when you’re underwater

In the unlikely event that Blue Venture is forced to cancel a booking, the customer will get direct notice. A cancellation will only happen if
Blue Venture finds that the contracted dive center can’t perform the needed service of the booked package or if the dive standards can’t
be fulfilled accordingly. Minor changes in the itinerary will not be defined as a valid cancellation reason, as diving is dictated by the
environment and the people enrolled in the activity.
Blue Venture will always do their best to find another operator of same or higher standard, but it is up to the customer to decide whether
they want to accept the change or get a refund.

Restricted dives
Diving is dictated by the environment and the people enrolled in the activity. All diving is performance based. It is up to the discretion of
the dive guide/instructor to restrict divers from entering activities that goes beyond their experience level. All guides strive to reach the
expectations of the customers. However, if they find that the safety of the group or an individual is jeopardized or at risk by one or several
individuals, it is up to the dive guide/instructor to restrict any divers from entering the water.
In this event the dive center or Blue Venture is not obliged to give a refund.
Dives not completed
There is no refund for dives not carried out.
Refund for dives not done for any reason is up to the discretion of the dive center. Most dive centers do not give refunds for dives not
done with personal causes such as seasickness, low on air situations or a failure in mastering the equipment etc. All log books will be
checked prior to the dive and the dive sites will be chosen accordingly to the experience level. It is however expected that certified divers
keep within their limits and do not cross their comfort zone. Blue Venture is never responsible to pay a refund for dives not done.
Courses not completed
There is no refund for courses not completed! All courses are performance based, but it is up to the instructor to pass the student. If a
customer can not complete a course with success they will receive their course documents for an optional referral, but the contracted
dive center and Blue Venture is not responsible to pay a refund.
Boats or dives not departing
If boats or dives are cancelled due to bad weather or sea conditions, it is up to the dive center to re-schedule and compensate with a
similar dive trip when conditions allow. If the customer does not have adequate time to enroll in another trip/course it is up to the
customer to make sure the dive center notify Blue Venture of this in order to secure a refund via the sales agent who completed the sale
with the customer. There will only be refund on the diving and not the accommodation.
