ITALIAN WINE & FOOD MATCHING DINNER
Reception Drink & Canapés on Arrival
Casa Santa’ Orsola, Prosecco D.O.C.
Lively fizz made from 100% Prosecco grown in the Veneto region of the North-East Italy
which boasts particular mild climate suitable for growing this interesting grape variety.
Quality soft Italian sparkling wine, fine persistent with fruity spectrum of apples, pears
& a hint of peach. Ideal as an aperitif.
Burrata Cheese with Avocado , Vine Tomato & Chilli Salsa
Tufai, Soave Classico 2010 D.O.C., Bolla
Blend of Trabbiano di Soave & Garganega & named after the volcanic stone of
the region, Twufai, for which the grapes are hand-picked from a single vineyard in Castellaro.
The wine expresses yellow-gold colour with citrus-blossom aromas & hints of melon,
grapefruit & pear. On the finish, this Frank Sinatra’s favourite wine, has pleasant
notes of spice & honey.
Papperdelle Pasta, Whitby Bay Crab, Peas & Broad Beans
Bastianich Friulano, Colli Orientali del Friuli 2009
This most classic Friulano, medium-bodied, is packed with ripe pears flavours, a touch of
almond with mouth-watering acidity. You can not go wrong with this wine when food & wine
matching as Jo Bastinich, himself an owner of the New York’s clutch of famous
Italian restaurants, is a judge on Masterchef USA!!!
Slow Cooked Ox-Cheek, Soft Polenta, Calva Nero & Mustard Fruits
Corbaia, Castello di Bossi 2003, C. Berardenga, Bacci, Toscana I.G.T.
Very meticulous & careful blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon & 70% Sangiovese, in this
Super-Tuscan, we clearly can see & taste a success story of the 20th century Italian
winemaking. Wine Advocate’s Antonio Galloni praised the quality of this wine with this
comment “…a gorgeous, full-bodied effort, packed with dark fruit, cassis, liquorice & balsamic
notes that flow from the glass showing outstanding lengthy & fine overall balance, with the
Sangiovese providing the acidity that keeps the wine fresh.” This estate dates back to 1346.
Warm Lemon, Almond & Tuscan Honey Tart with Vanilla Mascarpone
Vietti Cascinetta Moscato d’Asti 2010
Piedmont’s little gem, slight frizzante, with intense aromas or rose petals, ginger & peaches.
On the palate delicately sweet with modest acidity, good & round balance, complexity & finish
of fresh apricots. Mario Vietti, a Patriarch of the 19th century wine making, from selling most
of his wines to the local villages, now confirmed Vietti’s position as one of the top producers in
Piedmont.
