But, to do this we need to step away from the busyness of daily life. It is difficult to have a heart-to-heart conversation with someone, while noise and distractions abound. Jesus is waiting for YOU! Our parish is blessed to have a place where you can experience this personal time with Him, in the Adoration Chapel. We invite you to come away for an hour and lay your burdens down. If you are able to commit to one hour a week, one hour a month or wish to be listed as a substitute, please contact our leaders. And if your schedule prevents a commitment, drop in any time during Chapel hours Sunday through Friday 7 PM - 11 PM. Currently, there is a need for Adorers on Sundays 8-9 PM, Wednesdays 9-10 PM and Fridays 8-9 PM. God Bless you. Lent Challenge of the Week Pray: In preparation for our parish St. Joseph Table celebration, begin a St. Joseph Novena this week on March 10. Novenas can be found using Google. A nice one is on the “pray more novenas” website. Include the success of the St. Joseph Table celebration at St. Pius, those who will benefit from it, and those who volunteer for this event and for the St. Vincent DePaul Society in your intentions for this novena. Fast: The St. Joseph Table is quite a feast! Try fasting for one day, two days, or as many as you can this week before the event in order to prepare for the celebration. Give: Attend the St. Joseph Table celebration and make a donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Even if you can’t attend the celebration, you can donate to St. Vincent de Paul by putting your donation in an envelope in the collection basket at Mass. Mark Hart uses Scripture and his experience of surviving an earthquake to share how we can master our fears. He also reveals how our fears will pursue us if we don't meet them head on. Mark encourages us to not only face the proverbial giants in our lives but to slay them as David did Goliath, thereby finding freedom in Christ. CD’s are available in the Gathering Space for $3.00 each. Year of Mercy God, who is merciful to us, desires us to extend mercy to others. However, practicing mercy in our lives actually does take practice! Here are some suggestions for practicing mercy this week: 1) Send a card, flowers, gift or note to someone on the sixmonth anniversary of his or her loved one’s death. By then, most people have stopped recognizing their grief. 2) Offer to babysit for a busy mom to go out and have a couple of hours to herself. 3) Hold. Your. Tongue. Taken from Aleteia, “56 Ways to be Merciful During the Jubilee Year of Mercy” December 7, 2015 Pope Quote of the week: "One should truly listen to the word, in the Bible, in the Gospel, meditating on the Scriptures to put their content into practice every day. But to scan the Gospel superficially is not listening to the Word of God: this is reading the Word of God, as if one would read a comic strip. To listen to God's Word is to read it and ask oneself: 'What does this say to my heart?' Only in this way, in fact, does our life change. This happens every time we open the Gospel and read a passage and ask ourselves: 'Is God speaking to me with this, is he saying something to me?' This means to listen to the Word of God, to listen with the ears and listen with the heart, to open the heart to God's Word." — Pope Francis March 6, 2016 PAGE 5 PARISH NEWS Weekly Offering Report Our Stewardship of Sharing Weekly Offering Contributions-February 2016 First Week Offering 8,074 Electronic Giving (2/1-2/2) 4,650 Second Week Offering 9,956 Electronic Giving (2/3-2/9) 6,715 Third Week Offering 9,529 Electronic Giving (2/10-2/16) 3,714 Fourth Week Offering 8,725 Electronic Giving (2/17-2/23) 4,026 Fifth Week Offering 9,111 Electronic Giving (2/24-2/29) 1,582 Budget Income for February 73,000 Amount needed for February Offering Budget $6,918 *Budgeted offering income needed to meet monthly budgeted expenses Golden Touch Donations 7/1/15-2/29/16 www.stpiuslombard.org Year to Date Sunday Offering Budget July 1, 2015 through January 31, 2016 Revenue $430,646 Budget 438,097 Over (under) Budget for year (7,451) Church Projects Collection Donations through February 29, 2016 Air Conditioning $71,980 Lot Lights 9,753 Thanks to all who donated to the Air Conditioning project. Joseph can guide us in and through situations, events and relationships. Joseph can equip us with the skills we need to get through life, particularly in raising children. Joseph can protect us from the evil and sins of the flesh. Known as the terror of demons, he is a most capable adversary of Satan and is fully prepared to face him without hesitation or fear. We Thank and Recognize Our Generous St. Joseph Table Sponsors and Supporters!
