St. Pius X Adoration Chapel
Parish Family, we are being called to a deeper, more
meaningful relationship with Jesus; that we may be transformed
through Him. But, to do this we need to step away from the
busyness of daily life. It is difficult to have a heart-to-heart
conversation with someone, while noise and distractions
abound. Jesus is waiting for YOU! Our parish is blessed to
have a place where you can experience this personal time with
Him, in the Adoration Chapel. We invite you to come away for
an hour and lay your burdens down. If you are able to commit
to one hour a week, one hour a month or wish to be listed as a
substitute, please contact our leaders. And if your schedule
prevents a commitment, drop in any time during Chapel hours Sunday through Friday 7 PM - 11 PM. Currently, there is a
need for Adorers on Sundays 8-9 PM, Wednesdays 9-10 PM
and Fridays 8-9 PM. God Bless you.

"10 Minute Volunteers" Needed
Facing Your Fears
The New Evangelization Ministry is looking for people willing
to give 10 minutes before and/or after Masses on certain
weekends of the year to help pass out seasonal materials and
check out resources from our monthly lending library.
We are looking for parishioners who are willing to put their
names and email addresses on a list to be contacted to help with
these events as they occur. You would simply need to reply to
an email if you are available to help on the particular weekend.
To get on the "10 Minute Volunteer List," simply email us at
newevanmin.org or sign up at our library table next weekend.
We will need volunteers next weekend, March 12th and 13th, to
help with the library. Thanks!
NEM Library
Next weekend, March 12 and 13, the New Evangelization
Ministry library will be open for business! This month we are
featuring books, CDs, and DVDs to help you enter more deeply
into Holy Week, the Easter Season, and Divine Mercy Sunday.
Stop by and borrow some of our free resources to add more
meaning to this most sacred season. You can also return any
resources you currently have to our table or to the resource
return box.
Lent Challenge of the Week
Pray: In preparation for our parish St. Joseph Table
celebration, begin a St. Joseph Novena this week on
March 10. Novenas can be found using Google. A nice one is
on the “pray more novenas” website. Include the success of the
St. Joseph Table celebration at St. Pius, those who will benefit
from it, and those who volunteer for this event and for the
St. Vincent DePaul Society in your intentions for this novena.
Fast: The St. Joseph Table is quite a feast! Try fasting for one
day, two days, or as many as you can this week before the
event in order to prepare for the celebration.
Give: Attend the St. Joseph Table celebration and make a
donation to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Even if you can’t
attend the celebration, you can donate to St. Vincent de Paul by
putting your donation in an envelope in the collection basket at
Mass.
Mark Hart uses Scripture and his experience of surviving an
earthquake to share how we
can master our fears. He
also reveals how our fears
will pursue us if we don't
meet them head on. Mark
encourages us to not only
face the proverbial giants in
our lives but to slay them as
David did Goliath, thereby
finding freedom in Christ.
CD’s are available in the
Gathering Space for
$3.00 each.
Year of Mercy
God, who is merciful to us, desires us to extend mercy to
others. However, practicing mercy in our lives actually does
take practice! Here are some suggestions for practicing mercy
this week:
1) Send a card, flowers, gift or note to someone on the sixmonth anniversary of his or her loved one’s death. By then,
most people have stopped recognizing their grief.
2) Offer to babysit for a busy mom to go out and have a
couple of hours to herself.
3) Hold. Your. Tongue.
Taken from Aleteia, “56 Ways to be Merciful During the
Jubilee Year of Mercy” December 7, 2015
Pope Quote of the week:
"One should truly listen to the word, in the Bible, in the Gospel,
meditating on the Scriptures to put their content into practice
every day. But to scan the Gospel superficially is not listening
to the Word of God: this is reading the Word of God, as if one
would read a comic strip. To listen to God's Word is to read it
and ask oneself: 'What does this say to my heart?' Only in this
way, in fact, does our life change.
This happens every time we open the
Gospel and read a passage and ask
ourselves: 'Is God speaking to me
with this, is he saying something to
me?' This means to listen to the
Word of God, to listen with the ears
and listen with the heart, to open the
heart to God's Word."

Exploring the Deeper Dimensions of Prayer
As part of this year’s Lenten activities we are offering a Workshop on Prayer Saturday, March 19, from 8:45 until noon. This
presentation is an in depth look at prayer, and the various ways we interact with God as we pray. We will explore vocal prayer,
different forms of meditative prayer, as well as contemplative prayer and silence. The experience is intended to offer participants the
opportunity to deepen and expand their notions and practice of prayer in ways that will nurture intimacy with God.
If you are currently feeling dryness in your prayer, if you think the Holy Spirit is nudging you toward an enriched prayer life, or you
just want to try something different please join us. This is an excellent way to prepare for Holy Week and may serve to enhance
your experience in the adoration chapel. The Workshop will be facilitated by Bob Frazee. Please RSVP to the Parish Office
at 630-627- 4526.

CELEBRATE ST. JOSEPH
St. Joseph Day Table
Sunday, March 13th
1:00 – 3:00 PM
Joseph can pray for us. He is a powerful intercessor on our
behalf and will go to his son, Jesus, with our needs.
Joseph can lead us in prayer and show us how to pray, often
using silence as his classroom, so that we can better hear God’s
call.
St. Pius Social Center
Donations benefit St. Vincent de Paul Society
Joseph can teach us what we need to learn about life – such as
purity of body, mind, and spirit – and the value of simplicity and
responsibility.
Joseph can guide us in and through situations, events and
relationships.
Joseph can equip us with the skills we need to get through life,
particularly in raising children.
Joseph can protect us from the evil and sins of the flesh.
Known as the terror of demons, he is a most capable adversary of
Satan and is fully prepared to face him without hesitation or fear.
THANK YOU FROM ST. VINCENT DE PAUL
The St. Vincent de Paul Society would like to thank the
school community for their support. We appreciate the
food and paper goods we received from the “100 Day”
Food Drive. We want to commend all the parents,
students, teachers, and staff for their participation in this
food drive. We would especially like to thank Donna
Perlowski and Tracy Pohl for all their help in the
organization of this endeavor. Appreciation also goes out
to those students who stayed to help put all the food away.
Thank you for making a positive difference to those in
need.

Celebrate With Us: National Catholic Sisters Week
March 8—14
Were women religious among your teachers in elementary
and high school? The second week in March – National
Catholic Sisters Week -- is your opportunity to remember them,
pray for them – perhaps even renew old friendships with those
sisters.
It’s our chance to recognize everything sisters have done for us.
The Illinois congregations collaborating on this communications
project include:
In Illinois, nine communities of women religious and the
Dominican Sisters Conference are working together to raise the
profile of women religious in three dioceses: Chicago, Joliet and
Springfield. They invite you to reconnect with them through
their web sites, e-mail – maybe even share a cup of coffee!
