Make a splash this summer by joining the summer reading
program! Children entering preschool through grade 5 can either
read by themselves or be read to by another. Each child registering
for the program must be an Evergreen Park resident or attend
school in Evergreen Park, and have his or her own library card.
Keep track of the time spent reading (or being read to) in your
reading log to earn fabulous prizes!
After registering for the summer reading program, visit the
library on Friday June 11, from 2:00-4:00 pm for BubbleFest!
At the bubble learning stations, bubble-blowers will explore the
secrets and sciences behind making the biggest and best bubbles,
and then enjoy a yummy ice pop treat. Bring your camera, because
Frog and Toad will be joining us, too!
Kick off the summer reading program with Bubbleologist, Geoff
Atkins’ fantastic bubble show, Bubble Wonders on Monday, June
14, at 2:00!
The Summer Reading Program is funded, in part,
by the Evergreen Park Library Foundation.

Meet Liz Topa
Library Board of Trustees Treasurer
Elizabeth Topa and her husband Tom moved to
Evergreen Park in July of 1976. Tom, Mary Beth and
Anne were born and the next twenty years were spent
involved in school, parish and village activities. Elizabeth
feels that Evergreen Park, besides being a great place to
raise a family, is also a wonderful community in which to
enjoy her four grandchildren who are growing up in the
same neighborhood as their parents did.
Elizabeth retired after 34 years of teaching high school
English and is now relishing everything she does knowing
she does not have to set an alarm clock for the next day.
She is proud to have served as a Trustee on the Library
Board since 2005. "The Evergreen Park Public Library is a jewel in our village and a
great place for residents of all ages to come together. I salute the Director and her staff
for making the Library such an important, educational and fun part of our lives".

Save the Date! Author Sara Paretsky
Sunday, September 12, 1:00 pm
Sara Paretsky
revolutionized the mystery
world in 1982 when she
introduced her Chicago-based
detective V.I. Warshawski, a
female investigator who uses
her wits as well as her fists.
Local color abounds,
including traffic on the
Stevenson Expressway, and
the perennial travails of the
Cubs. Hailed by critics and
readers, her first novel
Indemnity Only was followed
by twelve more best-selling Warshawski novels.
Seating is limited. Register in person and pick up a color
coded index card for placement in the signing line. Books
will be available for purchase before and after the
presentation.
