Winning Women: Leslie VolLrath
I started playing sports as early as I can remember. Basketball runs in my
family. My dad is 6’5 and my brother is 6’8; all the Vollraths played collegiate
Basketball except my mother.
My fondest high school memory is being ranked nationally. Ironically, I would
always listen to “Eye of the Tiger” at least once before every game. Before big
games, I would also watch Hoosiers.
My highest moment was trying out and making a semi-professional team in France.
I decided to return to the US but felt good because I could have played
professionally.
I have learned that hard work towards any goal most often results in success.
Playing a sport meant making difficult choices at various points in my life;
discipline taught me that many rewards will follow when you can keep centered on
a goal.
“My iPod has about 50 gigs of music; recent additions include Lana
del Rey, Eddie Vedder and Cat Power.
