Entrelac Entrelac is one of the great tricks of the knitting world. Is it woven? Does it involve a lot of sewing? None of the above. You’ll work with self-striping yarn which creates the illusion that each small section is made from a separate yarn source, when in fact you’ll be working with one continuous strand. It’s also a great opportunity to try the option of “knitting back backwards” so that you can work with the right side of the piece facing you at all times. Choose the wide shawl version or a narrower scarf version and finish with an elegant knotted fringe. Folly Cove Folly Cove is an A-line summer tunic designed by our recent guest teacher, Julia Farwell-Clay. The shirt tail hemline is done in double basket weave stitch. Gull Wing lace trims the front neckline. A tiny bit of the same lace is added to the upper back neckline and the short set in sleeves. Thursday 4 to 6 pm June 18, 25, July 2, 9 $50 plus supplies Teacher: Debbie Iced Frappuccino Julie Turjoman’s book, Knits that Breathe, is full of hot weather friendly knitwear. Iced Frappuccino has a graceful taper in the body, somewhere between an A-line and swing shape. Jule thoughtfully places all the shaping in the plain areas between the columns of easy lace. The pattern transitions to a mesh stitch for the last few inches creating a cap sleeve yoke. A row of crochet finishes off the neckline and sleeve edges. Emphasis is placed on learning to “read” your stitches so that you can become a confident knitter. Class also includes a taste of lace and cables. This hat and scarf combination gives beginners opportunity to practice and polish their basic skills. You’ll learn to use circular and double pointed needles while making the hat. The hat will also be your introduction to multi gauge patterns, which allow you to make the same design in many different kinds of yarn. The scarf combines the cables and other stitches you learned in Knitting for Beginners so that you can keep learning to read your stitches and have something beautiful to wear.
