A Toast to Tapas
C.W. Post Showcases
Spanish Cuisine
The Office of Community Relations and executive chefs
from C.W. Post Dining Services delighted Brookville
residents at a food and wine tasting seminar at the C.W.
Post Campus in November. Tapas Tonight explored the
culinary delights of the Basque region of Spain. As the
guests enjoyed an array of freshly prepared tapas, paired with
complementary wines, they shared conversation with friends
and neighbors in a lively atmosphere.
Tapas is a time-honored and cherished part of Spanish
cuisine. ‘Tapas’ refers to small plates of food, similar to a
chef’s tasting table where many delicacies can be sampled.
In Spain, tapas are much more than an epicurean delight,
they represent a lifestyle—an opportunity
to share good times with friends in an

unrushed, carefree manner. And on this
November night in the Great Hall on the
C.W. Post Campus, the guests did just that!

Tiptoe Through the Tulips
C.W. Post dressed up the corner of Route
25A and Whitney Lane in Brookville with
a flower garden. Ornamental cabbages,
covered by red cedar bark mulch, were
planted along with 3,000 daffodils and 2,000
tulips that will burst with color this spring.
“C.W. Post is doing its part to beautify the
area roadways and make everyone’s commute
more enjoyable,” said Long Island University
President David Steinberg.

• Become a Teacher in 16 Months
Changing careers can be a liberating and invigorating experience – and
becoming a teacher can be one of the most satisfying career moves you can
make. Now, C.W. Post has a new Master's degree in Adolescence Education
that leads to certification as a teacher of grades 7 to 12. If you have at least 30
undergraduate or graduate credits in English, mathematics, social studies, earth
science, biology, chemistry or languages other than English (Spanish, Italian or
German), you can meet the academic requirements to teach that subject in as
little as 16 months. Find out more by visiting www.liu.edu/adolescence.

From the
Editor
In the beginning of 2008, I
mailed a calendar of upcoming
events to all of the residents of
the Village. If I included all of
the information I gathered from
the academic departments, galleries, library and various
centers on Campus, you would have received a bulk
package – (I promise I wouldn’t do that to you!) I
faced the challenge of limited space and therefore
had to choose from an extraordinary line up while
considering the interests of the Brookville residents.
Not a bad task, really!
C.W. Post is home to innovative programs led by
renowned scholars who enjoy creating a thriving
academic community for our students and the
surrounding communities. Their remarkable dedication
has helped illuminate C.W. Post as a cultural haven
that plays host to some of the region’s finest theatre,
music and art. We are proud to offer programs to
stimulate your palate – be it cultural, educational,
recreational or social. We are dedicated to strengthening
the spirit of community by presenting and promoting
such opportunities for our neighbors in Brookville. I
hope you will visit the C.W. Post Campus and take
advantage of all we have to offer. I look forward to
seeing you on Campus in 2008. You can reach me at
(516) 299-3500 or e-mail [email protected].
