The speaker was Jerry Karnes. He spoke about the background of “See You at the Pole” and the point of it. “See You at the Pole” began in 1990. It occurs every year on a Wednesday in September. Christian students join in prayer, scripture reading, and fellowship early in the morning before school. “See you at the pole” has grown over the years not only in the United States but world wide. Thank you to Christian Faith Outreach for providing juice, donuts, and most importantly, the speaker. By Sam Koronis During the week of the of September 13-17 we gave our recognition to all the survivors and the ones still facing the battle of cancer. NHS was the main sponsor of this event. They sold silicone bracelets with the words hope, strength, survivor & faith. NHS also let the teachers pay 1$ to wear jeans and the students 1$ to wear caps to school. This was a great fund raiser for the United Cancer fund. We also sold shirts for our own cancer survivor, Ms. Moudy. There were around 1,000 “Just Beat It” shirts sold. Everyone wore their “Just beat it” shirts to school on Thursday and to the football game on Friday. There was a great turn out for the football game. The stands were almost all pink. There was also a balloon let go at the half time of the football game. Thank you to all who participated in our breast cancer awareness week. Many people greatly appreciate it! They are searching for an unexplained enigma, a puzzle that most people actually seem to find. It has been a mystery since 1866. This road has created such a mystery that even the army corps for engineers officially concluded that it was a “mysterious light of unknown origin”. By: Courtney Ross Page 13 1. Page 15 Adair Warriors Defeat the Tigers in Overtime The two undefeated teams of the district faced off in Friday night’s game. Commerce (5-0) , who moved up a class, was led by fourteen seniors against Adair (50), who has been in class 2A football for years. Both teams were very good and stuck to their game plan. The tigers game plan was to run the ball behind the offensive line. Adair's game plan had a duel threat, running and passing. The first half of the game was a close one to call. The tigers drove the ball with seconds on the clock. The second half went well for both teams. Defense was not a factor in this game. Injuries plagued two of the Commerce varsity players keeping them out for a portion of the game. The game went into overtime. Commerce got the ball first to start the overtime and after three tries at a touch- until the third down, but they were finally able to score on the Tiger defense making the final score of the game Commerce 38 and Adair 41. down the tigers By: Armando Cashad to settle for a tilleja Jr. and Luis field goal.
