Spring 2015 Newsletter - Hope Within Ministries
Spring 2015 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul firm and secure — Hebrews 6:19 Hope Within Is Touching Lives Every Day By Dr. Eric F. Hussar, Medical Director By Donita Sturgis, CRNP, President Hope Within is touching lives every day, and I feel privileged to be part of this. Patients come to us for a variety of physical, mental, and spiritual issues, and they feel so grateful to be able to come to an office where they can receive high-quality care without becoming bankrupt from medical expenses. They also enjoy coming because they feel they are respected, honored, and loved, which may not have been evident in other venues. Our patients know they matter to us, and more importantly, they are of great worth to God. The words from Dr. Hussar describe just one visit encounter at Hope Within. As we look back and share with you some of the milestones from 2014 as well as some of our hopes for 2015, it is with a sheer sense of awe at what God has done through this ministry! I had a conversation with a patient a few weeks ago. We have been managing her heart disease, and now she is sensing a need to get involved again with a local church. She fears there may be some pain with this because she deals with some personal issues and memories from the past; therefore, she was hesitant to try church. As I talked with her, we discussed how God does not always spare us from pain, but He uses that pain for the greater good of our healing. In order for us to become who He wants us to be, sometimes we must experience the pain and allow God to use it to make us whole. This woman seemed to take this to heart. Pray that “Rose” would discover God’s heart for her as she walks this road. Since our inception, Hope Within has cared for more than 1,500 unique individuals. In 2014 the center had 1,370 patient visits, enrolled 126 new patients, and discharged 84 – many to health coverage. The center completed 196 applications for patients to receive free medications through the Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs from pharmaceutical companies. 186 labs were drawn and completed on site and 386 were drawn and sent to one of our healthcare partners. Hope Within Community Health Center also implemented the Community Connect Epic Electronic Health Record in May. Another milestone for 2014 was the launch of the Hope Within Counseling Services program, serving 43 families in need in our region. We are blessed by those who sacrificially give of their time and serve as faithful volunteers. They truly are the lifeblood that keeps the center operational. We are grateful to our community for your diverse support and investment in Hope Within. This is our opportunity to thank you, our 2014 partners! Your service and gifts make it possible for staff and volunteers to touch lives with tangible help and hope every day.
