Spring is here again, and that means it’s time
for the Edelweiss Estates Spring Picnic! Please
join the EEHOA board members and your
neighbors at Edelweiss Park on May 9 for
burgers, snowcones, clowns and fun! We will
also have representatives from the various City
of College Station departments to give you news
and info, and update you on city programs and
services. CSFD will also be bringing a fire truck
and ambulance for the kiddos to explore, and we
hope to have a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog,
along with CSPD. Don’t miss this great chance
to meet more of your neighbors, get your face
painted, and have dinner on us!

College Station ISD Bond Election Slated for May
On February 20, 2007, the College Station ISD Board of Trustees called for a bond
election in the amount of $67,420,000 to be held on May 12, 2007.

As of last week our contractor was informed

Local libraries now using collection agency
Yard of the Month returns in May
On April 1, local libraries in the BryanCollege Station Public Library System
began using a collection agency to bring
in late fees and to encourage patrons with
overdue materials to return them - at the
patron’s cost. The 90-day trial use of
Unique Management Services will run
through June 30, at which time its results will be evaluated. The
collection effort will apply to College Station’s Larry J. Ringer
Public Library and the Bryan Public Library.
The grass is turning green, the flowers are blooming and
the birds are singing. Spring is in the air. Which means
it’s time to begin the 2007 Yard of the Month Program.
Who will it be this year? Judging will begin the later part
of April and the first award will be presented the first part
of May. Winners receive handy home improvement gift
cards, so get those yards into shape and show them off!
How collection works
The Bryan College Station Public Library System will still notify
patrons that materials are overdue, and plenty of time will be
given to respond. An automated system already calls two days
past the overdue date, then again on the ninth day. On day 16,
written notice is sent, follwed by a final written notice on day 23.
That’s when Unique Management Services steps in. A $10 fee will
be applied to all accounts turned over to the collection agency.
Did you know?
In FY2006, uncollected fines and fees totaled $151,700.
Uncollected fees for FY2007, to date, total $25,700.

Complaint: My fence blew down. When will you fix it?
Answer: We will not fix your fence. All of the fences in Edelweiss
Estates belong to owners of the property that they are built upon.
If a fence blows down between you and a neighbor, and you don’t
want to fix it, I highly suggest you knock on your neighbor’s door
and work out a compromise. The city requires all fences to be in
“good repair.” If code enforcement notices the fence, they will
determine (to the best of their ability) ownership and require that
person to repair the fence or face fines. In some special situations
(along Edelweiss Avenue for example) we will come by after the
fence is repaired and place a cap on the fence to make it look more
aesthetically pleasing and to help keep it straight.
If you would like to report a fence that has fallen down or is leaning
heavily, you can contact us, but you will get faster results from
code enforcement. They require action to be taken in a shorter
timeframe and will levy heftier fines than we would if no action
is taken by the owner. Contact the City of College Station Code
