From the Desk of the
Athletic Director…
Each year, IUP Athletics supports individuals and teams
that work hard to achieve noteworthy accomplishments
across varying disciplines. They practice tirelessly for the
chance to compete for (and win) championships at the
conference, regional, and national levels; they maintain
the highest standards for academic success; they show
support for the area they call home during the academic
year by giving their time to community organizations. These
experiences impact their lives by building physical strength,
knowledge, and character. Our student-athletes make us
proud each day.
Between competitions and coursework, teams gave their
time and talents to such causes as the American Heart
Association’s Heart Walk, the United Way, Central Blood
Bank, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, and
the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Several
team members also received All-America and national
championship honors—all of this while excelling
academically. As we move through the 2011-2012 academic
year, IUP student-athletes will demonstrate, day in and day
out, that the number of accomplishments and accolades will
multiply once again.
By supporting your favorite team or teams through the
Crimson Hawks Athletic Association, you can further
increase opportunities to excel and share in their successes.
The support of IUP alumni, fans, and friends provides
necessary scholarship and operational dollars to enable
our coaches to provide experiences that enhance growth.
These experiences are carried with the student-athletes
everywhere—be it the playing field, the classroom, or the
community.
I invite you to join me and the IUP coaching staff in our
mission. Your support is vital to our success.
Sincerely,
The Foundation for IUP is a 501(c)(3)

IUP Intercollegiate Athletics Mission Statement
We provide a high-quality athletic experience for the
student-athlete to enhance his/her education and develop
lifetime skills.
The Crimson Hawks Athletic Association (CHAA) seeks to establish strong relationships with IUP alumni, parents, friends, and
corporations and to involve them in IUP intercollegiate athletics. Uniting those
with a shared passion for IUP athletic programs will generate vital operational
support to enable IUP to provide its student-athletes with the best scholastic and
athletic resources in the area.

Accomplishments on and off the field: 2010-2011
Each year, the young men and women who are IUP
student-athletes achieve milestones and records that
give ample reason to cheer.
•
IUP finished second in the PSAC Dixon Trophy standings and fifteenth in the Directors’ Cup, placing the Crimson Hawks in the top 4 percent among all Division II schools in the nation.
•
Seven teams competed in postseason competitions. Several teams also achieved all-time best season records. The softball and women’s tennis teams competed in the NCAA national championships for the first time in IUP history.
•
Out of 390 IUP student-athletes, 39 percent were
named PSAC Scholar-Athletes last school year by
attaining a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher. Forty-two percent earned Dean’s List honors during the Spring semester, and eight IUP
student-athletes carried 4.0 GPAs throughout their entire college careers.
• Team members volunteered their time to eighty-four community projects.
Why give to CHAA?
By becoming a member of the CHAA,
you will join many others who recognize
the need to support the hard work and
honor the accomplishments of IUP studentathletes. Gifts to the CHAA will be designated
to the sport of your choosing. The return on
your investment will be realized with each
championship trophy, Dean’s List scholar,
and successful student-athlete alumnus. Your
gift will enable IUP to continue its winning
tradition.
•
•
CHAA membership runs through June 30 each year. Please allow six to eight weeks for the delivery of benefits.
Tax deduction is limited to the amount of the contribution above the value of goods and services provided.
What does my annual gift support?
The CHAA provides resources for athletic scholarships
and operating enhancements such as community
service projects, team requests, travel expenses, and
equipment replacement each year.
How can I help?
