We keep having to relearn how prodigal God is. It is as if
God cannot quite manage to say no. We think it is surely
fine when God is prodigal with us—rich in mercy and forgiveness, generous in grace. But what about the other—the
enemy, the sinner, the heretic, the outsider? Well, we expect God to be as stingy with that person as we are.
Moses and Joshua wanted such a cozy world, too.
They wondered how the spirit of God could be given to
the two who did not show up at the meeting tent—today’s
church. And the apostles in the Gospel complained because there were some miracle workers who were clearly
not followers of Jesus. God’s great free wheeling generosity confounded them all. Let this be, says Jesus. Just see
to it that you who lead continue to be worthy of your calling.

SACRED HEART RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM
Parishioners are asked to encourage Catholic neighbors with school-age children who
have not yet registered them for the CCD program to do so as soon as possible. This is to
avoid chaos (and tears) once classes begin and is especially important for children in grade 1.
Except for children transferring from a Catholic school or another CCD program, no students
will be registered after September 30th.
Parishioners interested in more info. about serving as catechists or aides in the program
should call the rectory. So should high-school and college students looking for service hours
and private school students who would like to be confirmed at Sacred Heart next spring.

SANDWICH CIRCLE
NETWORK OF CARE—SACRED HEART CHURCH

Sandwich Circle” and leave it at the rectory or drop it in the collection box.
If you would like to help make these sandwiches, we meet on the last Tuesday of every
month from September through May in the Rectory Meeting Room from 12:45 to 1:45 PM.
We do not meet in December. If you have any questions about Sandwich Circle; please contact Joan Zale at 715-6517. Thank you for your help!
