The Marco Island Yacht Club
was shipshape for the Nineth
Annual Commodore Ball and
Change of Watch in January.
Officers of the bridge in full
uniform accepted their burgees,
or insignias, during the Change of Watch ceremony, a timehonored tradition transferring
rights and responsibilities to new club officers. The newly
appointed Commodore Frank
Rinker took his oath of office from
outgoing Commodore Mary Ann
(M.A.) Kline. Vicki Bretthauer
honored retiring board directors
for their service to the club.

Candlelit walkways,
spectacular auction items
and the chance to meet
a best-selling novelist
made the American

remember. The sold-out
crowd of nearly 150 guests
arrived to enjoy cocktails
at the Marco Island
Historical Museum.
Guests also waited in line
to shake hands with

A bespectacled Jeb Bush
nearly blushed at the
admiration he received
from a crowd of about
400 people on Marco
Island. Bush, who was
the featured speaker at
the inaugural Marco
Town Hall Speaker
Series event held at the
Marriot Marco Island
Beach Resort, addressed
federal policies and
agenda in his 45-minute
speech, but later
dispelled rumors of a
presidential run in two
years. A VIP reception
with a meet-and-greet
with the former
governor was also held.
