President’s Wagging Tails
Saturday April 21st was our 40th Anniversary dinner. The evening was filled with fun
and a great dinner, and if you didn’t make it
you missed out on a chance to be with lots
of friends and past members.
The committee put together an agenda that
included the clubs scrapbook, doggie Jeopardy and a great Raffle. The Raffle had 5
great items, and I was lucky enough to win
the digital camera - boy do I love it. There
was also a wonderful memento gift that was
handed out to every one that attended.

Tammy Del Conte, Betty “BG” Garcia and
Lynn Schmitt, our Mistress of Ceremony to
whom we give a BIG thank you.

The board decided to cancel the May 19th
Capitola Classes Start
meeting and picnic due to a lot of the members being out of town. We felt like there

wouldn’t be enough members to make a
quorum, as we need at least 16 members
present.
Our Agility Trial is on June 16th and 17th-- if
you would to help out with the Trial please
contact Michael Bashista, as he would be
more than happy to find you something to
do.
Our workshop is coming up next month on
June 23rd. If you would like to steward contact Linda Lang or if you would like to help
out with something else, you can contact me.
After the workshop we will have our Annual
Meeting with the voting in of the new board.
We’re also planning to have some games
for our dogs like dunking for hot dogs, doggie tic tac toe, etc.

* 10 Learn to weave, teeter, and crawl while sober.
* 9 It gets you out of the house for some haulin’ and draggin’, running and jumping, and then more
haulin’ and draggin’.
* 8 It’s a great way to see fast dogs and meet fast women.
* 7 Learn the proper pronunciation of the word “snooker”.
* 6 Finally learn your left from your right and how to count more than 10 obstacles without taking off
your shoes.
* 5 When discussing the table, it’s the only time a guy can freely say in mixed company “I finally got
that bitch to go down for me!”
* 4 Practice the fine art of forgiveness when your dog does something to embarass you on the
course.

Dog Terms Explained (with humour)
20. SPECIALTY-Whatever your dog is good at, like bringing home dead cats or chewing the walls.
19. BALANCE- Ability to hold coffee, danish, leash, treats and entry form all at once.
18. CRABBING-What you do when the judge doesn’t like way your dog moves.
17. FORCE FETCH-Dog drops the toy under furniture, scratches at the carpet til you’re forced to “fetch” it.
16. BLIND RETRIEVE-When you can’t see the toy under the furniture.

Carol Davis: Spirit Gavilan KC Sat UB 193 1/2, Sun UB 192, OB 188 HC
Gayl Dalmau: Gayl, Sprite and Toots went to the Silky Terrier National Speciality
May 8-May 11 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Girls (Sprite and Toots) did very
well. Sprite was High in Trial for Agility and received a score of 100 in Rally Novice
to compete her Rally Novice Title. Toots qualified in Novice B Obedience with a
score of 186 for her 2nd CD leg and qualified in Rally Novice to complete her Rally
Novice title. It was well worth the long drive.
Michael Bashista: Merlin, Marstad’s Intrepid Wizard CDX OJP AXP, finished his
Excellent Preferred Standard title on June 12th at the Santa Clara DTC trial at
Casa del Fruta. Over the weekend he also got his first two Novice FAST legs. His
B R A G S teammate for Standard was Michael Bashista and his FAST partner was Marion
Bashista.

Shepherd, at her first Agility Trial. First Novice Jumpers with 100 per cent and Third in Novice Standard with 100 per cent.
