One Lord, one faith, one baptism
Remember, the Church is the Mother of us all!
“And of Zion it shall be said, this and that man was born in her: and the Highest himself shall establish her.” Ps. 87:5
El-yon is Hebrew for the “Most High”, and Jesus said, “Upon this rock I will build my church.” Jesus is El-yon the Highest!
Happy Mother’s Day!
If Christian ministers really believe Christian doctrine is only an intellectual game for theologians --- and that
it has no bearing upon human life, it is no wonder that their congregations are ignorant, bored and bewildered.
The immense value of church history --- and the history of doctrine, is the dimension of historical depth that
it gives to one’s understands of the faith, and the balance it brings to one’s judgments. Some avoid doctrine. They
say that it brings contention and broken fellowship, and as a result they do not study or discuss Bible doctrines.
However, the Bible is completely filled with doctrines, so one cannot read or teach anything from it without promoting a doctrine. The very word doctrine means, a teaching. We are commanded to “take heed” and “to continue in doctrine” (1 Timothy 4:16).
Bishop Howard Collier, 1939 ~2014
Pastored & founded the Church of Jesus, Piqua, OH
Due to the mystification of many, the question is asked over and over again, “Why is it that there are so
many different denominations among Christian worshippers: all of them profess to be worshipping the same Lord,
yet they are all divergent from one another.”
Now there are some that are seriously concerned about the
situation, wherein they have advocated such remedies as incorporating
all Protestant denominations into one giant merger. I am afraid that
“I am sure that this writer did not come out
would not be the answer dear one ---- that would not be the prescripof the Roman Catholic Church”
tion for the ill. It is the lives of the people who make up the congregation that counts with God; and if that giant merger were effected, the
ills would still be with us. You would still have the Protestant group, the
Roman Catholic belief, and the Greek Orthodox Church. It isn’t always good to use names, but sometimes it is absolutely necessary to be specific. You would have those three major groups and the chasm between them would
be impossible to bridge.
The Roman Catholic Church offers this prescription: “Let all the Protestants return and be absorbed by the
Roman Catholic Church, for all of the Protestants came out of Rome to begin with.” However that is not true. I am
sure that this writer did not come out of the Roman Catholic Church, and there are scores who never set foot inside
a Catholic house of worship. And as to who came out of what, please remember that all the Christian organizations upon the face of the earth originated from Jerusalem. They all came from THE CHURCH that was set up by
Jesus Christ on the Day of Pentecost----Rome did not become the capital of religious worship until two or three hundred years later! Therefore, the very center of Christian worship was at Jerusalem and it remained there until Titus
destroyed Jerusalem. So, a merger would not be the cure.
Bishop Karl F. Smith, 1892-1972

the leaves of friendship falls,
A mother’s secret love
outlives them all…”
