THE JUDGES Jeffrey Bazell, Ohio Jeffery Bazell has been active in AKC events since the age of nine. His first champion was an imported English Pekingese that his father brought over for him as a birthday gift. Jeff has bred many champions in Schipperkes, Chow Chows, Newfoundlands and Brussels Griffon and has finished champions in all seven groups under the St John kennel prefix. His interest in sighthounds evolved into finishing several Kingsmark Greyhounds and campaigning them successfully across the U.S. He and his partner, Jeff Kestner, have been very active in Brussels Griffons for many years. They’ve campaigned Griffons around the world and most family groups contain some St Johns blood. Jeff and Jeff are raising their grandkids and they are quite active in the dog game as well, making them the fifth generation involved in purebred dogs. Michael Buckley, New Hampshire Mike has been involved with purebred dogs, specifically Smooth Fox Terriers, since 1966 when he got his first Smooth while still in high school. During high school he showed both Smooths and Skye Terriers in Junior Showmanship, as well as, in the breed ring. He resides in Francestown, NH, where he is in the Executive Search and Consulting business. He attended college on a basketball scholarship and later played semi-pro basketball. He has bred and owned Smooth Fox Terriers under the Buckleigh kennel prefix. He has finished over 60 Smooth Fox Terrier champions mostly from their kennel and also Ch. Trackways Just Ducky which was #1 Smooth Fox Terrier all systems in 2001 and in 2002 won the breed at Westminster Kennel, which was dream come true. Mike is a charter member of the New England Terrier Club where he has served as President. He is currently an officer and Show Chairman of the Fox Terrier Club of New England and has served as Judges Education Coordinator for the American Fox Terrier Club, as well as, on its Board of Governors. He is a charter member, the club’s first President and has served in a number of capacities for the Smooth Fox Terrier Association of America. He is a member of the Fox Terrier Club and The Smooth Fox Terrier Association in the U.K. He continues to be a member of The Eastern Dog Club in Boston where he has served as Show Chairman and been instrumental in running the Bay Colony Cluster of Dog Shows. He is also a member of Morris and Essex Kennel Club and The Santa Barbara Kennel Club. Currently he is licensed to judge all Terriers and Junior Showmanship. He has had the privilege of judging throughout the U.S., including Hawaii and also in Australia and New Zealand. As a breeder it was the ultimate compliment to be asked to judge at The Montgomery County Kennel Club shows in 2002 and 2005.
