Dog exercise areas
Dogs and their owners are happier and healthier when they have regular exercise.
The City of Mandurah allows responsible dog exercise off-leash
on over 17kms of coastline, as well as 26 reserves throughout Mandurah.
Regular exercise in these areas will help to:
Improve
• socialisation of your dog
• health of your dog
• sense of community for dog owner
• exercise for dog owner

Regular exercising and training your dog helps reduce boredom, barking, digging, aggressive
behaviour and increases sociability. The City of Mandurah offers a variety of dog exercise areas to
encourage dog owners to exercise their pets more often.

up after your dog in any public
place or on private property without
the consent of the occupiers.

You must remove your dog’s
excrement immediately and dispose of it responsibly.
Free poo bags are provided by the City of Mandurah
near bins at many locations throughout the district
for collection of dog faeces. Tying a bag to your lead
ensures you are always able to clean up responsibly
after your dog.

Control requirements in
dog exercise areas
Your dog MUST be on a lead until you reach the
designated exercise area, ie at the bottom of the
steps or walkway to the beach or reserve NOT in
the car park.

What is a Restricted Breed?
A dangerous dog (Restricted Breed) is a breed
prescribed by the regulations to be a Restricted
Breed under the Dog Act 1976. These breeds
include, Pit Bull Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier,
dogo Argentino, fila Brasileiro, Japanese Tosa
and Presa Canario. This also includes a mix of
two or more breeds, one being a breed mentioned
above.
• ‘Restricted breed dogs’ and ‘dangerous dogs’
to be under adult control, leashed and muzzled
whenever in public as per Dog Act 1976

Local Councils.
The period of registration (dog year) runs from 1 November to 31 October, regardless of the date
when the dog is actually registered.
