About Dogtober
Dogtober is all about celebrating man’s best friend while lending a paw to Assistance
Dogs Australia. You can create your own doggie themed events or get sponsored to
undertake a challenge and raise much needed funds and awareness so we can train
another 25 super puppies to help people with physical disabilities.
Just as puppies come in all shape and size sizes so too can your fundraising events.
They can be as big or small as you want, they can include your family, friends, work
colleagues, neighbours, your local school or sporting club - anyone and everyone you
know - it’s up to you!
To help out our super pups got their wet noses together and came up with some great
ideas for events, from organising a Dog’s breakfast or baking and selling pup cakes
to Dogs-bowling. For more dog-spirational ideas visit Dogtober.org.au or you can also
contact us at [email protected] or call 1800 688 364.

The Tim and Roxy story
Just days before Tim McCallum was set to being
his course at Australia’s leading performing arts
university, the Western Australia Academy of
Performing Arts (WAAPA) a swimming accident at a
local Perth beach left him a quadriplegic.
“I never realised how important my independence
was until I lost it after my accident. Assistance Dogs
Australia has given it back through Roxy. She is my
best friend and I know that I could not achieve the things I want to in life
without her help and companionship,” said Tim.
Tim’s resilient character and spirit have touched the hearts of many. He rehabilitated
and returned to the stage to continue with his dream of performing. His biggest fan is
his Assistance Dog, Roxy.
