We, too, can experience that same joy if we take time to open our hearts, listen to God, ask for His direction and allow the Holy Spirit to guide our lives and our decisions. IHM Events & This Week at IHM April 18 3 Monday Blood Drive Sunday, April 24 Gathering Space - Identification Required 8:30 am - 1:00 pm Tim Lohrstorfer 702-0360 April 19 Tuesday Leader In Me One of the requirements of the Leader In Me Program is that the students not only track their personal goals, but that we also have one school wide goal as a student body, to help them realize that their actions and decisions also affect others. (like the domino effect) So for the 4th quarter we are tracking unexcused tardies. A Tardy Tracking Bulletin Board has been put up by the 7th grade rooms to give the students a visual reminder that our goal as a school is to decrease the number of tardies each day and week. Our goal as adults should be to help teach, and maybe work ourselves, on the importance of planning ahead by getting things ready the night before or up 5 minutes earlier so they aren’t late for school. Take their strengths and have the children figure out what works best for them to be prepared for the next day, including sports or music practices etc… Being prompt and on time is a critical life skill that they need to learn the importance of now. Their ability to be prepared for work and being on time will be a key factor in the work force in the future April 20 Wednesday April 21 Thursday Kickball for 3rd Grade Girls Kickball basic skills - Patty Koors will be offering her kickball basic skills clinic for current 3rd grade girls interested in playing CYO kickball in the fall, the week of May 2nd every day after school from 3:05 to 4:15 on the IHM kickball diamond. The purpose of the clinic is to have the girls learn skills they will need to play CYO kickball games in the fall. It also gives them the opportunity to see if they are interested in playing before they register. Playing in a CYO game is much different than at recess. If you have any questions or your daughter can't attend due to other activities or a different school schedule but would like to play in the fall, please contact Patty at [email protected] or 257-8348. Spring Clean-up at IHM In an effort to beautify the grounds at IHM for SPRING and SUMMER we are looking for some willing workers who can lend a hand. (This is also a great opportunity for students who want to fulfill service hours.) Please join us on Saturday, April 23rd anytime between 9am and 1pm (weather permitting). Our goals are to mulch, prepare beds and plant flowers, landscape Fr. Bob's lawn, remove weeds and trim trees. Please bring a pair of gloves and your favorite garden tools! Extra shovels, brooms and wheelbarrows would be useful. We will provide water and snacks. Please contact Anna Harvey ([email protected]) if you are able to attend. Growing in the Faith Year of Mercy Did you know that Pope Francis has offered the whole Church “an extraordinary path” to salvation during this jubilee year? A pilgrimage including walking through the holy door, prayers, reflection upon mercy, celebrating the sacrament of reconciliation and participating in Mass is one way to celebrate the Holy Year of Mercy. The North Deanery DRE’s have planned such a pilgrimage to St. Meinrad, one of the two places in our diocese that has a holy door. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 1st for the pilgrimage to St. Meinrad and watch the bulletin for more information about travel plans including fees and itinerary. Sunday Family Faith Catechists’ Reminder Our meeting is Tuesday, April 26th at 7pm in the Parish Conference Room (the room upstairs in the parish office). See you then! Happy Easter! “Wait” you say, “Easter was a couple of weeks ago.” You are correct. Easter, the celebration of the resurrection of our Lord, Jesus the Christ, was celebrated on March 27th. However, because it is the most important feast of all, our Church gives us 50 days to celebrate it. The Easter season gifts us with the opportunity to savor the mystery that resurrection is our heritage. The beautiful fact is this: After the passion and death, Jesus rose. He overcame death. And we, who are united with him forever as members of the Body of Christ through our baptism, are offered eternal life. No matter what wonderful or challenging events we encounter at the moment, our faith offers us hope – we each can experience resurrection. Happy Easter! 5 Adoration Wednesday, May 4th Wednesday, June 1st Wednesday, July 6th The Church will be open from 6:30 am to 9:00 am for adoration and prayer. Diocese & Community Events 6 From the Diocese Catholic Home Missions Appeal The Catholic Home Missions Appeal will take place next week. One way that this appeal works to support home mission dioceses in the United States is by supporting seminarian formation in poor dioceses. The blessing of seminarians places a financial burden on these dioceses, because educating each seminarian costs $35-40K per year. Your support is needed for these young men so that they might go back and serve their parishes. Please strengthen the Church at home by making a generous gift to next week’s appeal. This appeal will be taken up with our regular collection on April 23/24. Envelopes are provided in this bulletin and at the church entrances.
