Honoring One of Our Own
Joseph A. Ferriso
On March 22, 2014,The Town of Babylon honored
Joseph, naming March 22nd Joseph Ferriso Day
because he reached Eagle Scout rank. Next Sunday
he will be remembered at the 1:15pm Mass at Our
Lady of Assumption Church. After Mass, at
approximately 2:45PM, the Town will be placing a
sign in his name at Rose Street and Great Neck Road.
Please join his famiy and friends at the ceremony
and also for refreshments at the Copiague Fire
House.

The Catholic Relief Services Collection will take
place this weekend, March 14th/15th. This
year’s collection theme is “Help Jesus in Disguise.” The collection provides an opportunity to

PRAYER FOR PRIESTS TO ST. JOSEPH
Illustrious patriach St. Joseph, who carried the Infant
Jesus in thy blessed arms and who, during the space
of 30 years, lived in the most intimate familiarity with
him, take under thy powerful protection those whom
he has clothed with his authority and honored with
the dignity of his priesthood, whom he has charged to
continue his mission, to preach his Gospel, and to dispense everywhere his graces and blessings. Sustain
them in their fatigues and labors, console them in
their pains, fortify them in their combats; but above
all, keep far from them all the evils of sin.
Obtain for them the humility of St. John the Baptist,
the faith of St. Peter, the zeal and charity of St. Paul,
the purity of St. John, and the spirit of prayer and recollection of which thou, my dear saint, art the model,
so that, after having been on earth, the faithful dispensers of the Mysteries of thy foster Son, Our Lord
Jesus Crhist, they may in heaven receive the recompense promised to pastors according to the Hearst of

OUTREACH PROGRAM
Top of the mornin’ to you. Prepare yourselves for
the onslaught of the shenanigans that only the Irish
can produce (with a little help from the leprachauns).
As you know, there are plenty of Irish once you
realize that on St. Patrick’s Day the whole
community is Irish, either by heritage or honorary
endowment.
We thought of asking for green tea, seaweed,
spinach and broccoli but thought better of it for fear
we would be inundated with moldy cheese, bread
and other undesireable greenery.
We will stick to asking for potatoes, peanut butter,
jelly,
shelf
milk
and
cold
cereal.
Enjoy
your
corned
beef
and
cabbage!
And also enjoy that Friday is the first day of
Spring...hopefully, we will be spared a snowstorm.
A reminder…..Catholic Health Services are present in
the school building from 10:00a.m to 1:30p.m.
Please take advantage of their presence and have
your blood pressure, height, weight and BMI
assessed. This is all free of charge and only takes a
few minutes. It takes longer to choose from the
refreshments that CHS brings with them.

PRÓBY CHÓRU NA TRIDUUM PASCHALNE
Potrzebujemy osób, które chciałyby przyłączyć się
do naszego chóru, który będzie śpiewać podczas
Mszy Świętej Wieczerzy Pańskiej w Wielki Czwartek
oraz Nabożeństwa Wigilii Paschalnej w Wielką

Z niezależnej inicjatywy grupy Polaków z Long Island
na terenie naszej parafii stanie pomnik papieża św.
Jana Pawła II. Zebrano już około 20 tys. dolarów. Szacowane całkowite koszty rzeźby, transportu i instalacji
to około 30 tys. dolarów. Osoby, które chciałyby
włączyć się w to dzieło, mogą składać ofiary do 15
marca 2015 r. na parafię z dopiskiem „Pomnik Jana
Pawła II” lub „Statue of John Paul II”. Czeki należy
wypisywać na: “Our Lady of the Assumption Church” lub
“OLA Church”.

24 maja 2015. Uroczysta Msza św. w trzech
językach zostanie odprawiona tego dnia o godz.
15:00 w audytorium.

REJOICE IN GOD’S LOVE!
Once again, as last week, the
message is God’s love. St. Paul tells us in
the second reading that God “is rich in
mercy because of the great love he had for
us” even when we were sinners.
But in the Gospel for today, the
story of Jesus talking to Nicodemus, we
have Jesus himself describing God’s love
for us.
God so loved the world that he gave
his only Son, so that everyone who
believes in him might not perish but
might have eternal life.
If we love someone, we are willing
to give that person the best that we have.
And that is what God did!
Jesus also refers to himself as the
light who came into the world. He urges
us to live the truth so that we may come
to the light, so that our works may be
seen “as done in God”.
So on this Sunday, traditionally
known as “Laetare” (to rejoice) Sunday let
us rejoice in God’s love for us.
