Rodeo Clown Humour
Clown: I had to go to the doctor the other day
because I had a headache.
Announcer: Really? What did the doctor say?
Clown: He said I needed a brain transplant.
Announcer: Wow - I bet that’s expensive.
Clown: It depends on who the brain donor was. For
example, a lawyer’s brain costs $500.00 per ounce.
A doctor’s brain costs $1000.00 an ounce.
A rocket scientist’s brain costs $2000.00 per ounce.

Announcer: Well, which one did you choose?
Clown: I was lookin’ for somethin’ a little cheaper,
so I asked him how much bull riders’ brains cost.
He said that it would be $10,000.00 per ounce.
Announcer: $10,000.00 an ounce!? Why so much?
Clown: Do you know how many bull riders it takes
to get an ounce of brains?

Penny’s Tip
Can you tell me what resistance training is and what
are the benefits of that type of exercise?
Submitted by: Gail
Resistance, also known as strength training, is when you work
your muscles against some kind of force. The resistance could
be gravity, an immovable object, your own body weight, free
weights or equipment specifically designed to work certain
muscle groups. The purpose of this kind of training is to
increase muscle mass and strength of your muscular skeletal
system; bones, joints and muscles.
There are so many benefits to regular resistance training
including all of the following: increases your metabolism,
therefore you burn more calories throughout the day and even
when you’re sleeping; helps prevent and can reverse
osteoporosis; increases your libido (nudge, nudge, wink, wink,
know what I mean); increases your balance and coordination;
reduces stress and anxiety; helps prevent injuries, and
substantially inceases your quality of life by allowing you to
enjoy and do more things now and for longer, later in life.

When the cowboy finished his drink he went out to his horse.
Not to his surprise, his horse wasn’t there. He went back in,
handily flipped his gun in the air, caught it, and shouted
loudly, “All right, I’m gonna get another drink, and by the
time I go back out, I want my horse to be there or I’m gonna
be forced to do what I did in Texas!”
The cowboy, true to his word, had a beer and walked outside
to find that his horse was there.
The bartender walked out with him and said tentatively, “Say,
partner. Before you go, can I ask what happened in Texas?”
The cowboy turned and said, “I had to walk home.”

Handyman’s
Home Improvement Tips:
Q: I am looking at reshingling my roof. I was trying to figure
out the best way to remove the old shingles, when a friend of
mine suggested just shingling over the old ones. In theory this
makes sense, but I notice the professionals don’t do that.
Would this work? Or if not. then what do you suggest would
be the easiest way to remove them, and should I do anything
to treat or prepare the roof before adding new shingles.
~ Donald Peterson
A: Without question, you should remove the old shingles. It
is the only way to go. There really is no easy way to do it.
Roofers have a spade that is designed for removing shingles.
They have notches in the blade that is designed to catch and
pry the nails up. Be sure to remove all the old nails. We offer
two types of shingle removers. One is called the BullDog by
true temper and the other is Red Ripper. They come in a “D”
handle or a straight handle to suit your preference. These
tools are a real back saver and act as a shovel to lift your
shingles to the dumpster.

Once your shingles are off, make sure the roof sheathing
(Plywood/OSB ) is sound and not rotten in any area’s. If it is
rotten, it will need to be replaced. Once your roof is sound, a
best practice is to cover ( staple ) the entire roof with 15 LB
felt roofing paper. This makes the entire roof system better.
The 15 lb felt usually comes with white lines, so if you put the
paper on square they can be used as a guide to keep your
shingles straight during installation.
