The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce will kick off
The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce will kick off the Christmas
shopping season and highlight local businesses with its annual
Moonlight Madness event. Don’t miss out on great savings—
head out on the town on Friday, November 21 between the
hours of 6:00pm and midnight. Many of the participating
businesses and service providers feature savings and specials
not available at any other time of the year. We encourage
shoppers to take advantage of these timely specials to
introduce themselves to all the services and retail outlets that
are available right here in the City of Airdrie.
Check out the participating business directory on page 24 of
this issue to help plan your shopping trip. See next week’s
issue (Nov. 20) for even more savings at businesses
throughout Airdrie.
If you would like your business to be added to the directory,
please call 403-948-5529 before Nov. 13 at noon. Don’t miss

We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dream.
Wandering by lone sea breakers, and sitting by desolate streams.
World losers and world forsakers,
for whom the pale moon gleams.
Yet we are movers and the shakers of the world forever it seems.

Arnold and his wife were cleaning out the attic one day when he
came across a ticket from the local shoe repair shop. The date
stamped on the ticket showed that it was over eleven years old.
They both laughed and tried to remember which of them might
have forgotten to pick up a pair of shoes over a decade ago.
"Do you think the shoes will still be in the shop?" Arnold asked.
"Not very likely," his wife said.
"It's worth a try," Arnold said, pocketing the ticket. He went
downstairs, hopped into the car, and drove to the store.
With a straight face, he handed the ticket to the man behind the
counter.
With a face just as straight, the man said, "Just a minute. I'll have
to look for these."
He disappeared into a dark corner at the back of the shop.
Two minutes later, the man called out, "Here they are!"
"No kidding?" Arnold called back. "That's terrific! Who would
have thought they'd still be here after all this time."
The man came back to the counter, empty-handed.
"They'll be ready Thursday," he said calmly.

Volunteers Needed to Make Airdrie Glow!
Airdrie – In just four short weeks, the Airdrie Festival of Lights
will light up the city. Thousands of families will flock to see
the displays, sing carols and drink hot chocolate – but the
festival can’t glow without you!
Our volunteers work year-round to prepare for the festival
and with less than a month to go, there’s still a lot to do!
Adult volunteers, especially electricians and handymen, are
needed to help fix and set up displays on November 21-23.
And there are lots of jobs for families too as we magically
transform Nose Creek Park into a winter wonderland.
Setup hours are as follows:
Friday, November 21 – Airdrie Transfer Site from 6:00 p.m. –
9:00 p.m. (Adults only please!)
Saturday, November 22 – Nose Creek Park from 10:00 a.m.
– 5:00 p.m. (Please check in at volunteer trailer. A pizza
lunch will be provided.)
Sunday, November 23 – Nose Creek Park from 10:00 a.m. –
5:00 p.m. (Please check in at volunteer trailer. A pizza lunch
will be provided.)
More than 50,000 people from Red Deer to Okotoks are
expected to visit the festival this year, so bring your friends,
family and mittens and help make the 13th annual Airdrie
Festival of Lights the brightest yet!
For more information or to volunteer, email Sheila Bunz at
[email protected] or call 912-XMAS.

The Crowded Store
It was the day of the big sale. Rumors of the sale (and some
advertising in the local paper) were the main reason for the long
line that formed by 8:30, the store's opening time, in front of the
store.
A small man pushed his way to the front of the line, only to be
pushed back, amid loud and colorful curses. On the man's second
attempt, he was punched square in the jaw, and knocked around a
bit, and then thrown to the end of the line again. As he got up the
second time, he said to the person at the end of the line...
"That does it! If they hit me one more time, I won't
open the store!"
My Wife is Missing
The man approached the very beautiful woman in the
large supermarket and asked, "You know, I've lost
my wife here in the supermarket. Can you talk to me
for a couple of minutes?"
"Why?"
"Because every time I talk to a beautiful woman
my wife appears out of nowhere."

At a Grocery Store
A man observed a woman in the grocery store with a three year
old girl in her basket. As they passed the cookie section, the little
girl asked for cookies and her mother told her, "No." The little
girl immediately began to whine and fuss, and the mother said
quietly, "Now Monica, we just have half of the aisles left to go
through - don't be upset. It won't be long now."
Soon, they came to the candy aisle and the little girl began to
shout for candy. When told she couldn't have any, she began to
cry. The mother said, "There, there, Monica, don't cry - only two
more aisles to go and then we'll be checking out."
When they got to the checkout stand, the little girl immediately
began to clamor for gum and burst into a terrible tantrum upon
discovering there'd be no gum purchased. The mother said
serenely, "Monica, we'll be through this check out stand in
5 minutes and then you can go home and have a nice nap."
The man followed them out to the parking lot and stopped the
woman to compliment her. "I couldn't help noticing how patient
you were with little Monica," he began.
The mother replied, "I'm Monica - my little girl's
name is Tammy."
I Am Going to Shop
"Cash, cheque or charge?" I asked after folding
items the woman wished to purchase. As she
fumbled for her wallet I noticed a remote control for
a television set in her purse.
"Do you always carry your TV remote?" I asked.
"No," she replied. "But my husband refused to come
shopping with me, so I figured this was the most evil
thing I could do to him."
